Noticed from a recent post that some are using Sluggos in the slop. How do you weight these? Is the hook and weight of the lure heavy enough?

Hi Hftb,

I've been using inserts that are made by the same company that makes the bait. My wife bought them for me so I'm not sure where she got them. I'll talk to her tonight and find out where.

Slugos are great! In fact I caught my first musky on a 9" slugo on Little Arbor Vitae lake when I was just knee high to a toad. I do sugget weighting them in heavy cover to make sure a musky doesn't blow it out of the water. Just enough to get below the pads. Pencil lead does great if you need a lot of weight otherwise big nails work to for an economical choice.

Exactly, wire brads or finishing nails. You are then able to manipulate the action due to weight location.

I use a slip sinker permanently applied to a 7 strand leader.

I take a hammer and pound an egg sinker of desired weight into almost a nail's size and insert into the sluggo.
