Thinking that this could be a great through the cabbage bait. Do they make weedless treble hooks big enough or are there other adaptations one could make to the hooks.

Thanks,
Don

i dont know about running them thru the weeds but if you buy the shallow dawgs they work great you can work them very slow over the tops of the weeds.

What about adding some sort of wire guard like the bass guys use on some of their plastices, except make one to fit a treble? Just a guess I really have no idea? Good luck, let us know if you figure out a way!

I'll second.
You miss a lot of fish with weed guard on big fat plastics.
Try to move out the trebles and keep one as stinger in the back of the baits.
you don't have the same hooking percentage as original but keep free from weeds better.
the bait have a large flat belly and you can also "tap" cabbage very often if you cast short and properly control your lure.

They can be worked very effectively as is through cabbage as long as it isn't very thick cabbage. Just "rip" it when you feel the cabbage, and with sharp hooks your bait usually stays weed free. Sure it take a little muscle, but it is a very good trigger in the jungle. If you do have some weeds on there don't fret about it. I have had fish smash it even with salad hanging on the hooks.

How about Texas rigging a 6" twin-tail? Weight it w/bullets or insert nails or just go bareback. I think I'l give that a shot this season...
