Location: Indianapolis, IN | Looking to see what brands (Humminbird, Lowrance, Garmin, Eagle, etc) you all have had experience with and all checking to see if you have any recommendations. Best brand? Color vs. black/white? GPS + fish finder?
I plan to get a new boat that will be used for bass fishing and musky ... i will probably get one unit for the dash and one for the trolling motor.
Thanks.

| I'll start this off for you!
I prefer Lowrance units just because I have owned several and I like them. I would not get a black and white deapth finder anymore. Will your next TV be color or B&W?
I would prefer to either have a GPS and a graph or a large screen (LMS110) on my dash. I find that once you split the screen on a 5" unit to have GPS and a graph at the same time the individual sides get a little small.
As for a unit on the front I just have a little cheapy since all I use it for is depth, I do not use it to look for fish. Honestly I was thinking of getting one of the units made for the dash that just tells the depth as a number with no graph. |

| I'll agree with most of above. Including color v black and white and screen size. Although, it's not hard to switch back and forth between the full screens of either locator or GPS. I have the 332c and only complaint is I wish it had a larger screen. Other than that, I love it.
I will disagree with the digital locator for the front though. I still use my front locator to differentiate between hard/soft bottom and weedlines etc. You aren't going to be able to do that with a digital. Might want to look at a flasher for the front or a cheap LCR but I'd be sure to put some type of a readable unit on the front.

Location: Eau Claire, WI | I'll second all of what Theedz said... Your learning well buddy
I run an X15 and LMS350A on my consol, I will probably replace the LMS 350A with a new Lowrance color unit this season. I also run a Lowrance I-finder H2O on the dash and move it to the bow if I want to follow a trail along a weedline or mid lake hump. Until the units are able to network that's the most cost effective option I've been able to come up with.
I run a Garmin 240 on the bow for the very reason Theedz mentioned. Good bottom separation, weedlines, etc. |

| Can't agree more with what's been said about Lowrance. Been using LMS 480 for the past two years for bow/dash and just got in a LCX 20 & 17, can't wait to see what these on the water! Used Lowrance, Eagle, Hummingbird, and a Garmin before and Lowrance is the choice. |
