Call me I'll explain. I did it last season and had fun. Youll see the sign up posted as the season gets closer under the match fishing forum IF they decide to do it again. Slamr had his hands full running it and did a great job at it. He may be looking for an apprentice if youre interrested. PM him for other details after you give me a ring.

Location: Des Moines IA | It's pretty easy. Every team who enters is placed in a "pool" of about 3 other teams. You then have about 3 months to set up a "match" with the other 3 teams in your pool. Your team and the other team must fish on the same day. Not neccisarily the same lake, but it has to be the same day. Then 2 days before a scheduled "match" you post for an "item" on the matchfishing Forum. It usually ends up being something out of the ordinary. Then you bring the item with you fishing. IF, you are lucky enough to score a "legal" fish, which is 30 inches I believe, you take a photo with the fish and the "item" to prove it was caught on the "match" day. 4 pts for a 30 incher, and an additional point for each inch over 30. Then once everyone has fished their "matches" in your"pool". Whichever team with the most points in your particular pool advances onto the semifinals. Where they fish against another "pool's" advancing team. Til there is only one team left.

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | MatchFISHING already? Sign-up will be in April (first week or so), pool play for more "southern" divisions will start in May, with the rest of the pools starting in June. I think we have a LITTLE bit of time before I start organizing this, dont you?
Sacrasm aside, this year's MatchFISHING was the best year yet, and with some minor tweaks and changes for 2006, it will only continue to get better and better. I facilitate, but really MuskieFIRST members "run" MatchFISHING, and more members participating only makes it that much better.
We have had winners from:
-Minnesota
-Ontario (eastern, no less)
-Illinois/Indiana
-Wisconsin
So, in other words, no matter your geographic location, or skill level (though a few Pros participate every year, we've never had one actually WIN) MatchFISHING is a great event for all. AND, its a great way to force the issue of getting on the water "honey, I'd love to go to the craft fair with you and your mother, but I'm sorry, I've got a MatchFISHING match set up. I hope you can have fun without me."
We've had 48 teams the last 2 years, and I'd LOVE to expand to 64 teams....think we can get there? |

| I'm thinking Team Pollocks from Indiana may give it another try.
It was a good time. It does add another element to the day on the water.
It's all in good fun. |
