I was wondering what size your biggest fish was and on which lure you took it. The reason being: were you able to decide whoch lure to use when you took it? I never know when a big one hits a certain lure but I know people who because they have a certain strategy for choosing a lure for a certain spot, stretch of water. How about you guys?

For Northern's, my biggest came last summer (38"er). It was on a northern Ontario Fly-in. The lure used was a baby depthraider cisco color (mostly white). We had the best luck speedtrolling, 4.5 - 5 MPH with white lures. It was very hot up there at the time and things were pretty slow at first. My buddy and I heard about speed trolling and decided 'what the heck". We used white to try and match the whitefish and worked awesome. we had a blast all week, caught a ton of northerns. We spent most of our time in 20-30 feet with lures bumping at 8' or so.

Longest was a 48.5"er which I caught on an 8" Reef Hawg. I was in 70' of water casting to a shallow weed bar. Did''nt have any trouble choosing lures as that was a hot one for me in 2000. My heaviest fish was a 48"er in 97 that ate a Bootail(my favorite bucktail) bulged in shallow water. I modify the hooks on my boo's so they cannot get leverage, and add a twister or flasher in the back.

My biggest WI fish was a 54 1/2" just over 40# fish I caught in the late 70's on a jig and 5" tail. I was fishing FOR thst fish with the creature, and got her to bite.

My biggest to date was a canada low-50 pound class fish that took a large custom built Musky Buster bucktail. Again, I was fishing for that fish, and got her to bite.

I lost one bigger ( alot bigger) last year on an Undertaker, and will be after her again, soon as season opens. That fish was a total surprise the first time, and was just a miserable experience the second, when the fish hit the same bait presented differently, but in the same place.

I have tied twice for my biggest.

A 48.5 on a 6" Hawg Wobbler at dusk.. A Classic

A 48.5 on a 4" Blue fox Super vibrex bucktail... Small bait on a cold front.

Big baits dont always get you big fish... but I have to wonder what is going to happen to Larry Jones this summer with the new 10" Slammer Deep diver...It could be scary.
