I just picked up mister twister weedless super top prop. Are these any good? Hows the hooking ability?

My favorite:
Violent Strike Magnum Willow
Kicked some butt with that lure this year.

The cool part is the 'factory' is across my driveway.

I've had great action on the Wisher bucktail fished in slop. Great action, plenty of hits and follows, but with this weedless, single hook bucktail, not great hooking percentage.

there's a new monster single hook plastic frog lookin bait that is awesome for the crazy slop. i know this is a really detailed description that doesn't hit the mark. just call Jay or Gene at Rollie&Helens and tell them it's the frog bait that Sled likes and they'll know what you're talking about. i promise you will like it for the crazy slop!

I had good luck this year well into the fall in the slop throwing Slopmasters. I have a Super Top Prop, very bad hooking percentage for me anyways, it goes through any junk you can toss it at though.

Another great slop lure is the big Sluggo. I work it a bit like a glider, and have done pretty well with the thing.

Like MuskieMedic, I have had good success with the Slopmaster (after replacing the swivel and split ring). My other favorite slop bait is along the lines of Worrall's...the 10" Fin-S-Minnow, rigged weedless with a 8/0 wide gap worm hook. You can make that bait do just about anything you want. Try one.

Steve,

How do you rig your Sluggo for the slop? I would like to try it next season, but wasn't sure of how it should be weighted and made weedless. Could you possibly post a picture as to how you rig it? Thanks.

This bait can go over the top of stuff that nothing else can. I am talking milfoil beds that are so thick that a spinnerbait would rest on the top of it . I have a boat partner who throws this bait right in the middle of these weedbeds, while I am working the edge.He has had several follows and blow ups ....but I haven't scene him hook a fish on this bait yet. Hooking ability is questionable. The fish are interested in it though.

If the weeds are thick but not quite covering the surface, better if there are pockets, dropping a bulldawg on their heads is great. Tricky the first time you try it, but after a while you get the hang of it. Could also try a reg. shallow 'dawg too.

If there are real thick weeds, in my opinion you cannot beat a single hook spinnerbait (I've got high hopes for the Violent Strike Mag. Willow).

My ol' buddy Scott Salchi taught me this technique about 4 years ago, and it REALLY works.

Maybe 2 of 10-12 cast will come back without weeds, but man o man it is highly effective if you can stick it out.

I have to go with a J-mac. It doesn't come clean through the spaghetti weeds or thick Milf, but it sure does lure some fish out from everything else.
rigged properly of course.

With some practice, a 6" Reef Hawg is pretty dangerous, as are the unweighted Suick and Bobbie.#2 would be a Raddog spinnerbait(single). Steve

I've got to go with Jonesi on the Suick trick. When they do hit a Suick over slop, wow! Also like the CJ spinnerbaits if you can work them through.

I picked up some Bucher Slopmasters last year, and I liked them both.
The buzz style is better for thick stuff, and the spinnerbait is easy to buldge.

When it comes to slop I toss em a Boogerman buzzbait, gets their attention, virtually weedless even with a trailer hook. You can really buzz it or slow it down and pocket drop it, give em a try and you won't be disappointed.

Any short-bodied twin-blade Colorado bucktail. The twin blades push the weeds aside and allow you to fish higher and slower while the short wire helps even a 4/0 treble hide behind the blades.
An unweighted Sledge is also remarkable in the slop because they're so boyant they dive into the weeds, but back out on the rise.

The heaviest of slop I use giant Sluggo's, old Standbye Johnson Silver Minnow 1oz with twister tail & trailer hook, or a weedless rigged DeLong Eel.

I like the Boogerman Buzzbait, but that could just be because I like the clickity-clack sound it makes as it goes through the water. However, at the Goon, it went through all the floating stuff nicely without getting tangled very often.

hello. an acker shaker is a convecks blade made to attach in front of plastics it gives them a wiggle action. they are not so easy to find anymore but worth getting if you do find them they realy work the heck out of the plastics and clear weeds away fairly well. they are made by bass fisherman guy acker im shure im not saying his name right but hes a bass guy like i know take care.
