I won't be on-line, or be able to be on-line for a while.
I just got done with a few help desk people, and the guy here at our Roadrunner provider ran some tests and told me that my system is "corrupt".
His advice.....get a new computer, it would be cheaper than getting it fixed and cleaned.
It just goes down and reboots all by itself and every time it does, we lose more and more.
Like all of our folders. files, pictures...........etc.

Beav,

Let me try to save you some money. I know of a good computer tech that will do me a favor and help you out. No reason to buy a new comp yet.

I agree, it just needs a clean install of the O/S. The only thing that is corrupt are files, physically the computer is exactly the same. Very easy fix. If I lived down there by you I would do it for free.

Not sure what Beav's system is dealing with but so many folks using the internet get eaten up by spyware! I run on a daily basis a spyware program and about twice a week a virus check. If everyone would do just this they would be running like a champ all the time!

If you are reading this and you aren't running spyware software, your machine is living on borrowed time! Go to download.com and for free download "Ad-Aware SE Personal". Run this software every single day! It will remind you when it needs to be updated...about once a month. You will save yourself tons of money and it's free. There are lots of other spyware programs but this is the one I have used for years with no problems at all.
My whole family is surfing on this machine everyday and we never have any problems at all. I never see a single pop-up and we have no delays with connection.

Yeah, i'm going to be in the milwaukee area thursday and friday morning (i think). I could bring a new OS disk, we could back up any important files and just reinstall your OS. Alot easier and cheaper then buying a brand new pc.

Beav,

I sent ya a PM. I am in your neck of the woods and just did a complete wipeout and re-install on my parents computer. Not too hard or time consuming. Ill do it for ya if you are interested. I left my phone number in the PM. Have a good one.

Beav, hopefully you get this. If Steve is not able to help, goto dell.com and goto their outlet section. Some unbelievable deals some 50% off new. They are what they are, individual models and what you see can be gone in an hour so if you see what you want get it. My oldest son is playing on their christmas gift last year. 599 to the door was over 1100 pricing it new. Celerons were around 350.

tiger direct has some awesome deals from 199 for a pent4 on up depending on what you want on it.. this should be a link to the recertified desktop page: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/refurb/refurb_slc.asp?CatId...

and here is a open box amd athlon3100+ model for at least 1/2 what it should go for: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.as...

if Beaver is serious about getting a new one he should look into the dell deal Todd mentioned or this.. can save a lot of cash it seems..
