I throw a lot of perch crap so I imagine that I would have to go with a custom perch color...although i do love the musky snax walleye pattern!

I like lures that are either dark, or light. The actual colors don't matter that much to me, but I'm a sucker for a pretty paint job.

I throw both customs and standard colors for perch, bluegill, and cisco. Just can't beat Roger Waters (H20 Tackle) White Belly Perch he paints for Guides Choice!

I think the custom paint work done by Beav in the sucker and cameleon is amazing stuff. Some of the schemes I've seen on Smuttly Dogs is nothing short of amazing as well.

As far as standard colors, golden shiner (gold/flourescent orange) is a great all around color.
Black is my first three choices for surface bait colors.
As far as custom colors, I have become very happy with Red Dragon (The Secret of the Orient!)

Gotta go with Black as my "regular" color. As Wesley Snipes said in "Passenger 57" - "Always bet on black!"

My new favorite custom is MRG's Dark Water Walleye.

Although I'll give props to Stan Durst and his Jailbird / Silver Fantasy / Stump Knocker.....more props to Beav and the 5 spot. Big time contrast and ability to fish different water clarity IMO.

If you are not throwing orange on some of the waters on my hit list, stay home.

Perch is my favorite regular color. Pike is a custom color that I'm looking for more and more.

In the last few years, I've noticed an increase in the number of fish that I catch on any lure with some gold in it.
Gold spinner blades.
Gold scales.
Gold trim.
I have 11 different shades of gold in my paint arsenal excluding gold metallics, so chances are you will get some gold in just about every lure that I do. Might be alot, might be just a little trim, but there will be some, somwhere.
Orange, in varying shades will tend to show up too.
Those are 2 colors that I've had luck with in varying waters.
I still love contrast and swear by it, so I guess a perch pattern, with it's black bars and gold scale will be one of my favorites.
