| I was wondering which Knipex cutters would be best for cutting hooks and wire for jerkbait leaders? I am looking at two different types. One is the wire cutter with the shearing jaws and the other is the boltcutters with the jaws that meet. Any opinions would help.

I purchased my set this spring and only had to use them once but holy cow did they cut! It wasn't much different than cutting paper. I bought the bolt cutter style and feel that it was well worth the money!
One suggestion for you, if you purchase a pair, make sure you rig up a string or something you stick your hand into so that you dont lose them overboard. I was able to use a drill press and actually punched a hole through that steel and now I know that they will not fall off my wrist. But I saw Pete Maina uses duck tape and wrapes if around one of the handles, looked like it would work.

Location: Elk River, Minnesota | I use a tether to the boat for the tools. specifically on the Knipex, the pivot point just below the cutting head opens up and you can run a tether through there. Then, tie to the boat, and if you drop them, you still have them.
