Tuffy has a ton of new stuff this year; new consoles, new electronic touch pad command center panels, new SAS seating, new dash instrument panels, new graphics, and three new Walk through windshield models. The new 1890 is a totally new rig at 18'9" and 96" wide. It will be available in an Esox Deep V in a tiller, console, dual console, and walkthrough.
A new Muskie rig, the 1760 GC and GT, will also be available. This rig has the all muskie all new in 2005 Esox Deep V interior, but has the open gunnel design of the Esox Magnum, lowering the profile considerably for the Muskie angler and dropping about $1500 from the retail price of the 1760 Esox Deep V. Of course, Tuffy totally revamped the interiors last year, so most folks who have seen an older Esox Deep V have NOT seen what's available now.
Looks like, according to the production folks at Tuffy, the new product will be ready this month and next. |

I spoke with Cedar Lake Sales in West Bend and he stated they are having one at the Milwaukee Marine Dealer Show January 20th.....Are you going to be at the show and what dates.....? |

| I was coming bye Lake Mills and took a chance.....Steve/Fiberdome was nice enough to give me a complete sneek pre-view of the Tuffy 1890......Steve/Tuffy.......This boat completly rounds out your line and gives us Muskie guys a complete smorgasboard of choices......I like all the improvements for 2006.....See you at the shows..... |

I'm interested in getting a new Tuffy and was 99% sure it would be another Esox Magnum. I was a little intrigued by the Rampage Magnum but now this 1760 GT/GC has my interest.
What can you tell us about it? What does the G stand for? Horsepower rating yet? Other specs? Can't wait till the shows!!

If their lettering system stays the same the "G" stands for gunnel model I.e. No top-cap installed, so the finish would look similar to that of your Magnum. The GC would be for consol models while the GT would be for Tiller.
If you haven't seen the layout of the new (2005) models you owe it to yourself to take a look at one of the new rigs. Bar none, the finest center line rod locker I've ever seen. They also have incorporated dry storage compartments through out the boat. The easiest way to describe them is un-plumbed live wells, no water can get in from the bottom and with the large rubber seals around lid it I suspect it would take hurricane force winds to drive water in them. I saw one of the first units last season at Worralls house after it was in in the rain for about 36 hours and all of the comparments were totally dry. The fit and finish was very nice and their reputation for having a great hull I'm sure will be carried through to the new line up.
I am really close to repowering the rig I have now with an E-Tec but am waiting until I can get a peak at the new Tuffy's, suspect they will set a new standard for an affordable mid-size rig with the new line. |

| You'd have to check with Steve, but I'm pretty sure they are phasing out the top caps on most if not all their boats. Cuts several thousand off production costs if I remember correctly.
Mark's deciphering of the 'G' code should be correct.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | What we are doing is adding models to the GT/GC line, for several reasons. First and foremost, the open design and lower profile is preferred by many musky anglers. Second, as Theedz said, the cost of the rig is reduced by a considerable margin. The 1700 GC/GT has a 60 HP rating tiller and 90 wheel. The 1760 GT will take a 75 HP, and the GC a 150.
The G stands for 'Gunnel', the 'T' tiller, and the 'C' console. We are building photo boats now, so it won't be long before you see the pictures.
The 1760 is a VERY stable hull, handles big water well, and runs well with the middle power range outboards. The biggest drawback that hull had in the pre-2005 Esox Deep V model was lack of floor space. That, plus the dry storage issues in the side tank style boats, has been corrected nicely with the new interiors.
We are dropping the Rampage Magnum from the line in 2006, mostly because the new 1760 GC and GT will be a much more functional boat at almost exactly the same cost. I hope this answers the questions so far! |

An Esox Magnum, a 90-92" beam, with gunnels wide enough to install flush mount rod holders (maybe 3" wide) would be a dream boat.
