I have caught fish pretty quickly in the past, even caught one before I grabbed the second trolling rod to put it out. Last minute, I got out sunday, we pulled up to the first spot, I rigged the sucker and put it in the water. After 2 seconds, the bobber was gone and I had a fish in the net before we ever grabbed a lure to put on a rod, let alone cast or even put the trolling motor in the water!

Not the first cast of the trip, or even the first cast of the day, but I did get one on the first cast at a lake. I also lost one on the first cast of the trip a few years back.

Last year on Big Arb I caught a fish on the first cast and didn't see another fish for about eight hours and it was only a lazy follow.

Caught a dink the first cast off the dock or back of the boat a couple of times over the years.

I wish every day started that way!

Got two "first casters" this summer. One was the first cast in the new boat. Very nice way to break in the new boat.

One came on a bull dawg over deep water, the other came on a top water over 5 fow...

pulled into a spot and was going to rig 2 suckers. Got one set up and just hung it over board until I got the second rigged. Was too cool as I leaned to lift the lid to the bait well for sucker #2, I saw old girl come to within 1 foot of the side of my boat to chomp on #1. I'd say......5 seconds. A nice 42"er. Boat shy??????? NOT!!!!! First stop of that day by the way.

We were on the water for less than an hour trolling with Captain Koepp when my first muskie came on the line. Considering that fish was over 45 years in coming, I'd say it was both my fastest and slowest. m

4 times this year we have caught fish on the first cast, probably around 15 times we have caught fish within the first 5 minutes.

Lucky I guess.

Two weeks ago I was testing a lure I made for Cory Painter. On the first cast from the dock I caught a 34”. Last year I was testing another lure and caught a 47” on the second cast.

Got a couple over the years on first casts. One was pretty cool, as my wife and I were heading accross a big open shallow flat on Petenwell. i noticed the depth go from 3' to 7' for about 2 seconds, so I turned the boat around and stopped and made a cast with a bucktail over the little hole. Got a 41"er that she videotaped. It has been a consistant spot since.

Got a 51.75"er on my second cast of the day in June this year. Buddy was still getting up onto the back deck. That was a rush.

Geez Corey!

You should stop muskie fishing and become a pro lure tester.

First time I fished Cave Run with Mikie. Pulled into Cave Lick and put a low 30" fish in the boat on my 2nd cast in the lake. Thought it was way too easy an I was right.

Not my fastest, but one day when my wife and I were out fishing, she reached into a paper bag that we had in the boat after we had stopped at Rollie and Helens and pulled out a brand new Sand Cat.
"Let's see how this one works.", she said and fired off a cast. After the lure hit the water, she snapped it down once and it was engulfed by a 38"er. We haven't caught a fish on that lure since, and that was 10 years ago.

One of my best and unfortunately last memories with my dad, I just casted out a shad rap for a trolling pass handed him the rod and went to put on another lure, and he goes I think I have one on and of course he did, a nice 41 or 42 incher, which we got. al

Well, I have to tell about my sons first muskie trip. Lake Winter, fall of '95. His first cast consisted of dropping the sucker over the side of the boat with a bobber attached to the line. I watched the sucker disapear, and the bobber kept on going under. I said "oh buddy we have a leak in the bobber, it won't stay on top". Well it turned out to be Ian's first muskie, a 34" fish. The next day, his first cast with a old pikie bait resulted in a 8lb walleye. Needless to say he is 18 now, and fishing is a big part of his life!

First cast of the year, last year (2004). Doubt I'll ever experience that again.
