| Anyone have this for their car or boat? Looking to get the old man one this year, specifically for the boat. Opinions on either XM or Sirius? What's the difference between the companies? Thanks. |

| i don't have it in my boat, (maybe next year). but between all my buddies, they have both XM and sirius. XM is more well known, advertises more, and has a few more accessory items available. sirius has much better signal strength, less "dead zones" (important on the water in remote locations), and better customer service. monthly cost is virtually the same. answer is obvious to me- sirius

Location: WI | I have Sirius in my truck. It is awesome, and a joy to have on those 12 hour rides up north, etc. One nice thing about Sirius also is that you can streamline through your computer for free, compared to a charge over at XM. An extra "car kit" is all you'd need for mounting an additional plug -in for the boat and you can bring the receiver back and forth from the truck to boat, etc.

| Tell 'em Fred . . .
XM does not charge for their online access. As long as you have an account (xm radio), you will get free online service. I have been all over the country and have not had any problems tuning in.
If you look at both companies, they offer pretty much the same music line up. Sirus has Howard, XM has Opie and Anthony. XM has over 5 million subscribers and is now available to Direct TV subscribers. Sirus has just over a million subscribers and will need to pay Howard $500 million for his contract. With that staggering amount alone, I would wonder if Sirius will actually still be in business.
XM Unit - Small and portable.
Sirius Unit - You will need a minimum of a Ranger 621 to haul that sucker around. However, it also works well as an anchor. |

| Is there one that has exclusive MLB coverage, and another that has NFL coverage? |

Location: nationwide | My wife set me up with the whole shmear last xmas with xm. The car kit, home kit and boom box. It is awesome. I have a buddy who is an over the road driver and he has had it for a few years and listens all day every day. On any given week he will be from Texas to Florida to New Jersey and does not have a problem with dead spots. The main reason we have it is because when at the trailer on the Chippewa Flowage the radio stations are limited at best and in the boat we were listening to cd's. Now we can listen to whatever we want whereever we are. I use the boombox in the boat with a converter and I use the back trolling motor recepticle for power - no more buying batteries for the boom box!!!!! I wish cell phones had this kind of reception. I have never ran into dead spots up there anywhere.

I have Sirius and love it, but coming back to Chicago from Canada this year we tried to get the World Series on satellite and could not. We had to jump between ESPN feeds on regular radio. |

| MLB is on XM. NFL is on Sirus. NHL will be on XM in 2007. Martha is on Sirus. Get Sirus, the little doggy company. |

The only "Dead Spots" you will find is amongst tall buildings. That is the only place I have ever lost service. |
