| Is Patricia Strutz's monster LOTW fish old news or something? According to the Smokey's Musky Shop website the fish was 54 1/2" with a whopping 30" girth. I get 61 pounds on my calculator and MH's weight calculator. What a friggin monster! Whether or not it is 60 pounds, wow! Definite once in a lifetime fish.
Ms. Strutz, if you're reading this, congratulations!!!!!!

| This fish is truly amazing and I can't wait to hear more about it!
This is the second time I have seen the picture and still I am amazed. One of the biggest muskies in history and maybe the biggest ever by a woman.
Congratulations Patricia |

| If that fish is only in the 40# class, Louis Spray's fish went over 100 lbs. |

The fish is thick from head to tail. And what a head it is....I'm looking at a picture of a 60# fish no question! It couldn't have happened to a better person!! Congratulations Patricia!!

Did the math on the size and 54.5 x 30 x 30 divided by 800 = 61.31
If this method is incorrect than so am I.... Either way it's a giant muskie and she should be very proud no matter what the weight.

Location: Roscoe IL | Someone help me here... I never tried to indicate the fish was larger than reported. I also didn't read anything that indicated the fish was only 40+lbs.
I simply responded with good intentions, and used the only method I know of to determine the weight of the fish with the measurements posted. If the method of Length x Girth x Girth Divided by 800 is inaccurate so be it.....
IT'S A BIG MUSKIE OK!!!
Chill.....

Location: Algonquin, ILL | Toothycritter:I just recall that Patricia stated her largest was in the mid 40 lbs, Looking at her web site she has this very pic stating mid 40's pushing 50. But I agree with you based on the formulas that fish would weigh much more
Either way one heck of a catch

| Howdy, all...Sorry for the late response to all the nice messages. I rarely get on the boards. Yes, that was definitely one beautiful fish. For the record, she measured 54.5" x a HUGE 30". All the equations figure her differently (between 46-61 #) Most experts I've spoken to agree she was in the 50# range. All I know is I had to have help lifting her (I'm such a girl!!). I've caught a lot of muskies in my life and that is the first one I could not lift. The photo does not really do justice to her because she is plastered against me. Visit me at my booth this winter (trade show schedule will be printed up on my website soon!) to see the video. I was fishing on LOTW at one of Guide's Choice Fishing Schools. I usually help instruct the ladies that participate but this particular week my hubby, Jim Behm, was along. He was the "net man" and my boss, "Ranger"Rick Krueger happened to come along in my boat that night and captured it on video. The footage is awesome!! I can now die a happy woman...Big fish to all musky hunters in 2006, but especially to all of you gals who are out there pounding the water! Patricia Strutz, www.ablondandherboat.com |

Location: Southern W.Va. | WOW!!!!!!! Last time I saw a picture of a fish that size, Ahab was sticking a harpoon in it's side.
Hugh fish that was really caught in the Ohio river just downstream Pittsburgh. I think it was caught by Punch And Judy.
