Location: Chicago | There is a post regarding it still being to warm for the ciscoes to spawn. Given this statement, where would
you think the fish will be on deep clear ciscoes lakes? I will be on the Lac du Flambeau chain tomorrow -the
weekend. I was thinking deep breaking shorelines and deep rock structures. Am I foolish to think the weeds
will be close to dead, so head deep?
Thanks for any insight!

| Ciscos are just casually dating and not likely to get jiggy anytime soon.
For now concentrate on remaining weeds or dying weed clumps near deeper water transition areas. With water temperatures still warmer than normal you may well find fish in the slop still. Troll deep water edges especially around pods of baitfish and deep water structure breaks.
I will be up there next weekend giving it a dry before ice up |

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | You are foolish to think the weeds will be dead, especially since deeper weeds stay green even through the ice on clear lakes. It's worth a shot to try the weeds, but for my money I would hit deeper water. The mid lake humps have been dead for me so far, but the deeper structure related to shoreline has been the best. Look for any underwater rock/gravel fingers, and fish them! If it wasn't for the fingers last weekend, we would have had a miserable time. |
