Location: Eau Claire, WI | Hello all, just wanted to post and tell the world that the 1st WI Chapter of Muskies Inc. - Based in Chippewa Falls/Eau Claire - is also involved in planting MS strain fish. Our lake is Wissota. We've been involved in this process for a long time as well and have enjoyed the experience in working closely and cooperatively with our WDNR local fisheries expert Joe Kurz.
I mention this because I've been reading posts by others about the "hard working" groups in Madison and Central WI with no mention of our chapter.
We've worked hard too and can really use support as we move forward.
This year, we've purchased 500 fish which will be clipped and planted the same day as the other lakes. I believe the new date will be Nov. 11th. There will be TV and other media present. We also hope to have some middle school science students involved as well.
This was a significant purchase for our club and well worth the money. However we cannot sustain this project on our own.
If you can, we would appreciate financial support going forward. We will need to buy PIT tags and readers. More than likely, there will be other expenses too. Hopefully the DNR will be able to supply the fish. If not, then it gets more expensive.
Thanks for your time and consideration. Please contact me if you'd like to help out.
Sincerely,
Jon Olstadt
VP - First WI Chapter of Muskies Inc.

Great job in getting leecher into Wissota, I know alot of hard work goes into raising money, and getting people to net fish transport and get them into lake. If everyone put 1/20 of the time the spent on the internet into helping musky inc and other club improving the fishery this would relieve alot stress on some people. Funny that we have 700 member, and we struggle to get people actually to do the work, everyone likes being part of the club, but we need more to people to actually get their hands dirty!
Great Job 1st WI

| Jono,
Sorry, no exclusion was intended. I just heard about the Wissota fish this weekend, and was not aware you folks had been at the forefront of that effort. Isn't it amazing that almost every time one hears about a well organized and carefully implemented program that is about improving the fishery in cooperation with the DNR and/or other state agencies or a corporate sponsor, it's Muskie Inc getting it done? Congratulations on the results of your hard work! | |
