We fished LOTW this weekend, we landed 3 with the biggest 44 and fat! We trolled the whole time and landed a mid 30 inch fish, it rolled alot at the boat and wrapped it self up in the line and leader. We forgot to check the line before our next run. An hour later we have another fish on. We fight it for about 10 seconds and then snap the line breaks. We are sitting there in disbelief. I look over and the fish is thrashing on the surface about 50 feet from the boat. The fish surfaced and thrashed 20 times, we chased it around for 10 minutes and finally netted it! We were so glad to be able to get the hook out of the fish, she released nice and didnt seem to be hurt. We measured her at 39 X 18.5 nice thick fish. I dont think something like that will ever happen agian, and we will never forget to check the lines!!

Actually, yes, but with a big pike in Log Bay by Sioux Narrows. The line parted on a friends gear, and a low 40" pike did pretty much exactly what you describe with a Grandma bait stuck in her yap. We got to her after a brief period of time and got her unpinned and the lure back for my friend.

I've had a similar happening a few years back. Fishing with a top-prop style bait (not sure of model), and I was using pretty light tackle. Muskie jumped out of the river grabbed my bait and snapped it instantly; probably bit through the line. Less than a minute later I saw it jump out of the water shaking it's head, and you could hear the rattles in the bait. No luck getting the fish and bait back; but that would've required taking a swim into the river as I was walking the banks. Kind of a cool thing to see happen; just hope that the fish made it.

Hey fisher,

DID u use any 14" jakes???

Also I had a similar thing happend a few years ago, I was using a custom painted wades wabbler,
and I set a hook on a fish only to have my line snap, in disbelief, then a few seconds later the fish came screaming out of the water, with the bait in her mouth, like she was laughing at us cause she took my dam bait. it was something to laugh at.

send me a e-mail direct and give me the details of the trip, did any of the tips I told u work at all??
