| curious if anyone can give me an overview what to expect out of the newer/larger tuffy esox magnum tiller VS. the old esox ltd. that
I currently fish out of ?
I ask because I am looking for a second boat to leave up north.
I currently fish out of "old faithful" an '87 esox ltd with johnson 50hp tiller...and love the boat !
I found a super clean 2000 esox magnum tiller that I can get it for very very cheap..... I know the newer esox magnum boat is wider and a skoshe longer,
but what benefits or drawbacks will I see in this boat vs the ltd ?
thanks, john hartford/wi.

Location: Chicago, Beverly | I believe the Mag would have more storage, larger livewell and possibly be a bit more stable then the LTD. Rated for higher hp then a LTD so if its not already at max hp you can always upgrade to that where, if memory is right, your about there with the LTD with a 50hp. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The Magnum is exactly the same length, but has the following features not found in the Esox:
Timers, recirc, auto functions on livewell
Wider 60" livewell
Baitwell
20 gallon built in tank
extra storage compartments
Larger rod locker, wider
full guage package
rear port and starboard caps
60 HP tiller rating
135 HP console rating
10" wider
V Pad running bottom
Hope this helps!

Location: Kildeer, IL | I own the same boat as you. 1987 Esox Ltd.
Three things that bother me:
1) Non-Flat compartments. It is very hard to run the trolling motor when you have so many bumps and slippery surfaces on the bow. Plus, the rod locker and livewell are not flush with the rest of the bunks and front deck.
2) Narrow bunks. The bunks around the outside are too narrow to balance on.
3) No storage. The tiny storage compartment up front isn't enough. Once you get the life jackets in there, it is just about full.
All of these issues are solved with the Magnum. Everything is flush, the bunks are nice and wide, and there is more storage.
If I were you, I'd jump at the opportunity. |
