| I was completly annoyed last night by the front hook fouling on top of the bait. This was with the large version. My question is this, do you think a single hook in the front will reduce hooking ability? I think I'm going to try shrink-tubing the hook straight down. Do you think this will effect hooking or action? This bait looks unbelievable in the water, but that dang hook is so annoying.[:(] Any ideas anyone?
Also, is anybody catching any fish on these? I could see some real fall potential for this bait. | |

| On the big 16"er, pull the factory hooks and split rings... all of them! Put either large Wolverine triples or size 10 S/S Roscoe split rings on the front 2 hangers. Mount a 9/0 treble on the front hanger, with a 10/0 on the middle hanger. Put a size 10 elastic around the body to pin the 9/0 up snug. Put a second elastic through the empty tail hanger, and loop it over so it will grab the centre tine of the middle hook and snug it up. When you get a decent fish, these simply break away. They not only keep the hooks from hooking on the body, but eliminate the hook rub too.
This is BIG fish medicine!!!

| "T" the hook so it lays flat against the crankbaits body and the hooks points stick more out to the side, then rubber band the hook to the body so it doesn't move around.

| Hi Mike, I'm sure when I guided you a couple of weeks ago you saw me throwing the UKKO, I think it has great action and excellent potential for the entire season not just the fall. I haven't tried any of the tips from Steve or Larry but I'm sure the advice they gave is from their years of experience, I've really not had to many problems with the hooks fouling in the leader. If I remember correctly Mike I changed the leaders that you and Craig were using and tied on my single strand piano home-made leaders. My suggestion is to go to a sigle strand leader and slow down your twiches or pulls on the bait, you could be over working it! Most baits will occasionaly foul up. If you keep having problems after what I suggest, give Steve and Larry's tips a try, there are a few baits I've had to change some things around with to get it to work or stop fouling but the UKKO was not one of them. Hope this helps, hope to see ya in the Fall.
