It's been very exciting to hear about all of the big fish coming from Wisconsin this year. Friday I was blessed to be part of that crowd when I caught my largest musky to date, a 51" X 26" out of the Wisconsin River system. The fish was in 2.5' of water and released like a 20" pike. The fish made an amazing 3' aerial display, something I did not know a fish that fat could do. Thanks to my boat partners, the Baumgard family, I got some great video of the fish. I'm not good at posting pictures so I'll ask Steve to post it for me. We were lucky enough to double on the day when Ken Baumgard caught a super heavy 46" as well. Photos soon. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Justin- Very nice fish! Ssssssssh, there are no fish in WI River - use GPS Coord's for MN lake.
BTW- the tail fin clip is quite distinctive, who bit who?
Have fun!

Lots of good fishing in WI. Makes one wonder how WI folks feel when they drive all the way over to Mille Lacs, get blanked, and then hear about a big fish caught right near their house. Probably about the same way someone from MN who drives to the Chippewa Flowage feels when their buddy stays home and catches a big fish on a metro lake.
Sometimes I wonder if most people could catch more fish by driving less and fishing more. |
