Have a chance to buy two Shimano(?) compre rods, 7 foot heavy duty 3/8-3 ounce lures, at costs.

I am happy with the action, but first thing that struck me looking at them is the lightness of the guides and a lack of a carboloy tip. These seem like corner cutting measures to me and somewhat worrisome for heavy use. I have also managed over the years to step on every rod I own and every tip, and with fenwicks, and ST Croix, have to admire the durability of these rods to stand up to that. Have not damaged one yet with my feet. Anybody used these things heavy? What will they look like after 30-40 fish? Have you had the guide pop the ring out on the tip guide?

I have two of the Compre muskie rods and have had absolutely no problem with them. I have completed two season with them and I fish for muskies about 90 days per year. Good rod for the money.

Same report. Tough and easy to fish, no problems at all.

The first rod I purchased was a Compre. Its my favorite rod and has held up extremely well over 4 seasons. I have exposed at least a dozen people to Muskie fishing and the Compre is the rod I hand them. At least half have purchased their own Compre since. I would not hesitate to recommend this rod. I don't get out as much as most but I think it is a winner.
