Looking for some general info about the Sioux Narrows area of LOW. Will be heading there in mid October and staying at Shingwak Resort. Wondering about the quality of fishing in that area and if anyone has stayed at Shingwak Resort. We will be hiring a guide for fishing, but will we need to travel far from the resort to find better areas? Thanks.

I have fished that area quite a bit over the years, and from the bridge to Log Bay, for example, every single reef, point, and weedline has good potential. Great pike fishing, and EXCELLENT bass fishing, largemouth and smallmouth. Some slob muskies, too.

You will be in the Whitefishbay region which is deep trout water, this area holds some good fish but can be a little tougher area to catch numbers. Like Steve mentioned reefs and points are keys in the areas as well as the weeds lines which can run deep, also the mouth of bays can be good and the areas going into them.Water temps are still in the 60's at the moment so as it cools off the bigger fish will be more willing to bite.Trolling can also be effective is this area as you cover more area that way, trolling big cranks works best.Good luck.

Darcyfish,

Thanks for the info. If it is possible, I will check back before the trip to get an idea what the water temperature is. Generally, what is the fishing like in mid-October. My assumption is that turnover should be finished and the muskies will be feeding before winter. Any thoughts on what we should expect at that time period? Is the weather going to be quite cold? Thanks.

I went Shingwak resort early this September, owner will mark your map but he fishes Dryberry, some of his areas did produce. Steve and Geoff from muskiefirst gave me some good information. Two major items one is if you bring your own boat there will be a docking fee for the week of $125.00 that is not mentioned on his website!!!!!(Never sent a brochure) The second if you buy gas from him, I would strongly suggest keeping track of it yourself write it down and have someone intial, so there won't be any supprises at the end of the week!!!! The water is very, very clear I would say you could see 12 ft. down, since the weeds were still green when I went that is where we hit. I would go back to the area. Shingwak cabins are old but are neat and clean. Have a safe trip. Al
