I am new to this sight and musky fishing. could someone please tell me the correct way to mount a bow mount trolling motor on a 14ft. boat. The boat came with a small bow deck that is just screwed into the top of the gunnels. I do not know if that is strong enough to suport the stress of a motor. The boat is a smoker craft bigfish14. Any help would be apreciated. thankyou, MFB.

If the deck was factory installed, it should carry the motor. If it's a custom job, I'd make sure it's rock solid. If necessary use a rivet gun to attach it if that would work. Then drill using the motor's pattern or base, and bolt her on. Make sure the foot of the motor will clear the boat as it deploys, and has the clearance to steer and retract, too. Angle to motor so it's going to be comfortable for you to use both deployed and retracted.

ANyone else have any suggestions, especially any one with this model Smoker?
