I finally got a chance to see first hand what some of you have written here about Mille Lacs. My partner (Dale Bowman) and I were guided by Steve Jonesi this past Thursday. Steve put us on 11 fish, of which 5 were 50" or better. My partner had a HUGE fish blow up on a top water bait, but it missed! He had another chomp the bait at boat side, only to shake off immediately and spin away. We put in about 12 hours on the water, and I have to say that Steve did an outstanding job of guiding. There was a pretty good chop on the water, so he spent most of the day doing the mombo on the trolling motor peddle. I learned a lot from Steve about Mille Lac and I highly recommend him those of you that are considering hiring a guide to fish that huge pond.

Thanks again Steve!

Filmed with Steve for an evening earlier this summer, and he put two nice fish in the boat under very tough conditions. He even let me sleep on the floor of an ice shanty that night free of charge.

I've spent some time with Mr. Jonesi out on the water. One thing I can promise you, you will NOT be bored. You'll learn a bunch too.

Jonesi Rocks! I've fished in his boat for two years now and I have caught and netted some huge fish. He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and he's more then happy to share all his knowledge about muskie fishing. Besides catching fish you'll have a great time out on the water and I highly recommend him as a guide. Check him out at stevejonesi.com

I had the pleasure of fishing with Steve this past summer on the big pond. Great guy that will keep you laughing all day long. Fish didn't cooperate, but we had fun. I had to beg him to take me back to the launch at midnight cause he wanted to keep fishin. You will get your $$$$ worth!

Way to go SJ...may you always be at least one step ahead of the lightning!
And may you always have a couple of 'extra' addresses of the fish.

I've had the pleasure of sharing Steve's boat on Lake of the Woods and Had a blast. He showed me the biggest fish I've ever seen, only wish I could have hooked . It would have made 3 muskies and 1 nice pike in about 10 cast. All I can say is he's as good a stick as any I've been in the boat with and better than most. Can't wait till I get another chance to sit around the camp fire after a great day of fishing with him.

Just my $.02 worth

Hey Mauser.....

where ya been dude??? Missed you guys up at ceder island this year. I'll never forget how much fun it was to see you catch 2 muskies and 1 nice pike in about 10 minutes. Wish you would have hooked that big one on the Killer Eel.
