Location: Chicago,IL | Looking for something to throw heavy baits in the 5-7oz. range. The Lamiglas seems to fit the bill, but I don't now much about them and haven't heard much about them. Anyone use these rods and have comments? I have a 6'9" Avid and 6'2" Avid and worry about using them for anything heavier than 5oz. How does the Lamiglas compare to these rods? |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | I have two Lamiglass Rods, one is a Rollie and Helen's 7' heavy model, the other is a 6'6" g500. I throw HR's and other larger baits with no trouble on the 7' rod. Haven't tried them on the 6'6" rod as I tend to use that mostly for cranks.. I also throw the HR's(8" shaker to be exact) and other larger baits with my 6'9" premier and have never had a worry about doing so. My 7' Lamiglass I think would compare more with a premier then a avid in my opinion(thicker blank sturdier feel) despite having cost a lot more, but it is a older model, not sure how the new ones are. The G 500 is rated 2-10 oz., I don't have the 7' handy to see what it is rated for. |

Location: NeverNever Lake | I have an older model Hughes River Special 6'10" ex-heavy. In my opion it's unmatched in both power and strength. It's rated up to 8ozs, but more like 10 or 12 would'nt be to much to ask. While not the lightest rods out there, I'd sword fight any rod on the market with it....................... |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I use the 7'6" Heavy, LGM 76 H, which is rated for up to 8oz. I like the length, the length of the handle, and the feel of the rod. However it is a bit heavy to cast all day. Undoubtably though, it has more than enough power to throw a 5-7oz bait.

Location: Janesville | I will not fish with nothing but lamiglas rods they are the way to go have have not broken a lamiglas yet I have broke everythins out there. I have 5 -7 foot rods i use for every thing and magnum bulldogs, I love my 2 - 8.5 foot rods for twitch baits bucktails and topwaters. Matt Mccumber |
