Out fishing Sat., slowly motoring from one point to the other when I spotted the unmistakeable white belly of a fish floating on the surface. I took a little detour to investigate. What I found was a 30" muskie, belly up, in a classic arch of a dead floater. Being nosey, I grabbed the net and brought the fish into the boat. The ski appeared to have recently died, as it looked quite fresh and even had bright red gills. The odd part was it's gills were widely flared and it's mouth was partially open. Upon further examination I saw a tail protruding from its mouth. I grabbed the camera and snapped a couple of quick picks. Then I opened its mouth with one hand and worked at removing the swallowed fish with the other. After considerable work I removed a solid 8" crappie that was stuck in the muskies mouth. The head of the crappie was already showing signs of deterioration from being partially down the gullet. I laid the 2 fish together and took another quick photo. Now for the wierd part. After dumping the two fish back into the water, I turned my back to stow the net. I heard a splash, turned around, and watched the muskie swim away. The whole time the fish layed in the boat, with my hands in its mouth, it never made a move. When I get the photos developed, I'm going to have to find someone to post them for me.
Lucky to still have my fingers

Sounds as if that muskie had a little opossum in her too, great job using real cpr. I remember you're supposed to clear the throat first, then tilt the head back and make sure your mouth covers with a tight seal and begin breathing life back into that poor creature. Ghoti, its people like you that would make me proud to sit in your boat. capt bigfish
