I get to fish the Hayward area 5-6 times each yr. I've fished the Chip, Namekagon, LCO, Grindstone, Sissabagma, LL, Teal, and enjoyed each of these lakes. In your opinion, what lake in the Hayward area gives you the best shot at a fish over 48"?

After seeing some of the quality fish from the CHIP this past weekend at the PMTT, I would say your best shot is at the CHIP. Lots of healthy mid 40's showing up, and Ty stated that the big girls should be moving in soon. LCO, Grindstone and Round would be my next choices, tend to be swinging more for the fences on these bodies, big fish very low density. LCO was reported to have 800 muskies in a 5000+ acre lake. Warning though is lakes are very low and navigation is hairy, at the PMTT we watched 5 boats run over reefs shooting their motors right out of the water, reports of 6+ missing lower units prefishing.

Good luck

My choice would be Namakagon first, then Grindstone, followed by Round.
LCO has few and far between. You will put in a lot of unrewarded hours on that body of water.
Don't know much about the Chip but it seems like it has been prodcuing this year so it is definitely worth a try.

1. Namakagon
2. Grindstone
3. Chip

I like both Namakagon & Grindstone for there heavy fish, plus I don't think they take the pounding the Chip does.
