Actually, I fished Cass last week and had better luck late in the week in the early am and eve with oversized topwaters in calm conditions. The "book" was wrong again as creepers, hawg wobblers, and jackpots were not effective in the calm water. However, the skis were firing on super top raiders, rough runners and other aggressive topwaters despite the calm conditions. In bright sun of mid day we did catch one 44 and move a couple others right of the tip of mid lake bars with bulldogs. hj

I fished Vermilion last weekend and muskies were moving on topwaters in calm conditions over weeds and reefs. I caught a 44 inch musky on a Magnum Lowrider, and I had other fish hot on it that just wouldn't commit. I also had a fish wake up behind my Lee Lures Chopper in early morning dead calm conditions, but couldn't get her to go. In the heavy wind and chop I had more action on bucktails than topwaters.

Same here top water worked in calm water accompanied by shade or darkness and blades or cranks in the wind over the weekend.
