Location: Holly, MI | great quote from essoxaddict... (from too close thread).."Now, in the boat it's another story!! You bring up a fish when I'm in the boat and I'm casting right back at it! "
This is a fun and controversial subject...
Your partner raises a fish. Can you cast in that direction? Let them cast back the same or a different lure?
Boy it is the most tempting thing in the world but I try not to cast to someone elses fish.
I'll joke that they have one or two more casts at that fish then I'm going to catch it.
I might even cast that way after a few more failed attempts by the "raiser". But let them work it first, for me at least.
Who's fish is it? |

Location: oswego, il | I let my partner work the fish. I have had people try to figure eight my fish and even had them cast into my figure-eight. that is not cool. The way I see it, it is that person's fish untill they stop working it or say otherwise. |

A different bait, different angle, speed, size, color is a huge advantage. Dont tangle in eachother's figure 8's but both should have at it....I'd rather see my partner catch a fish that have it swim away...
Then, push him in the water afterwards!!!!!! |

Location: minocqua, wi. | i look at Musky Fishing as a team sport and it's up to both of you to get that fish. the guy that moves it first usually makes the nod and there should be some discussion and strategy between the two of you regarding what you are going to do to get her to go. i'm as happy with the net in my hand as i am fighting the fish. all of this being said, there is an unwritten "leadership" position in the boat that is usually respected and if it's not ..... then boat chemistry will be such that this would be the first and last time such a thing would happen anyway. |

| Fun fishing....I let that guy work the fish.
Tournament fishing is a different story...when we're a team and need fish in the boat....it's gotta be a team effort to hook that fish..then it's open game to go at it as well. |

Location: Lafayette, IN | I'll flip my bait past the retreating fish and I'll insist that my boat partner cast a full cast beyond me. If the fish doesn't give my bait a second look my hope is it'll take the alternate offering. To me, that's what musky fishing is about.....GETTING A FISH IN THE NET! Doesn't matter who. I think it's more exciting that way. |

Location: Madison Wi. Chain | This is a no-brainer. Let the guy who raised it cast back and his/her partner waits for the go ahead to make a cast. Lambeau let me cast back to a fish he had up twice. I was able to hook the fish, but lost it on the retrieve. GREAT TEAM work pays off. Muskie fishing is a team sport. Get the fish in the net! |

| Musky etiquitte... there are some things you just don't do!
1. Cast at the spot where your friend just had a fish blow up
2. Figure 8 someone else's fish
3. Cut them off so they can't make a cast
But it really depends on your relationship with that person. I've let friends take a shot at a fish I had up and been happy to see them catch it. I have other friends that if they did that on purpose I'd never fish with them again.
I guess if they did it to be funny, to mess with me, as a joke, etc. it would be fine and I'd laugh. But if they just did it because they wanted to catch the fish instead, well that's just #*#*ty, you know?
Some guys it's just two guys fishing and you respect each others space, some guys it's more of a team and you work together...
You guys know what I mean, right? I mean it's just a whole different game depending on who you're fishing with.
Some guys I'd bet $20 for the first fish, and figure 8 anything they had up so I could win and spend the whole day with that $20 bill stuck to my hat and say #*#* like "I got $20, and you don't because you SUCK"

| If someone in my boat casts onto a fish I raised, uninvited - it's probably the last time they'll be in my boat.
I have guys I fish with regularly and we all have an understanding that the guy who raised it gets first chance to follow up.
On the flip side, I always ask before casting to a fish raised by the other guy. |

| Cast away, we need to get the fish in the boat. I have no problems with people casting on fish I raise. Figure 8em too. I just want to convert it!!! |

| I want the person I am fishing with to get his lure in the water if I get a follow. I get more exited when someone else gets a fish these days. I catch a lot of Muskies and it isn't that big of a deal. |

| It's not my fish because I raised it or had it blow up.
Go ahead and cast to it, figure 8 next to me, be a throw back lure....I don't care. I'd rather see the guy that I'm with catch the fish than somebody that I don't know, or worse yet a guy who'll keep it.
Fire away!!! And good luck!!! |
