Both baits look similar to me...what are some thoughts on each from the guys who use them.

Looking to stock up on some of this style bait mainly for speed trolling 6-10 mph.

Thanks in advance.

I have a number of terminators from the 97-2001 timeframe. They don't do well for speed trolling unless you put them on a down rigger or something else to keep em down. Mine start to skip beween 3 and 4 mph. I have a bunch of t3's and t2's both straight and jointed.

The guy used to make some out of 1" stock but doesn't anymore - can't get it reliably. They are 3/4" stock now. I think it makes a difference.

I do love 'em though, just not for speed trolling. Hope it helps.

I would have to say the Terminators troll up to 5.5 MPH for me with no problems! I have had to tune them from time to time but I have yet to see one run out of the box! These lures work great and with a little time tuning they really work great! The biggest fish I have caught on them.

The wiley's also work just fine but there again you have to tune them. I have a couple the screw eye is 30 degrees over!

No Question for me. Wiley's are the best. Try the HeadShaker, great action.

These baits out thump them both.

A little kinder to the wallet as well.

check out www.lscmuskieshop.com they have a good selection of trolling baits, fair prices.

Terminators have the best paint jobs I've seen.Wiley's are easy to get a hold of. They both work. For a small package thats hot try the tko's at lsc...

Fall trolling on St. Claire most of the chatter on the radio is about the nils.

Do your gas bill a favor and slow down 4 mph gps ground speed is fast enough. The slower speed will also beat the crap out of your baits a little slower. You can always speed up from there.

Anyone done anything with the 10" muskie stalkers from Drifter tackle yet? I picked one up from Thornes and it looks good, well made and plastic.

Have any of you checked out the trolling baits made by muskie train? They are some nice looking baits made by an experienced musky fisherman who does alot of trolling on St Claire...I recently bought a couple of 10 inch baits...very nice...he makes a six, 10, and 14 inch model...nice construction and colors... http://muskietrain.com/

I have 75 Wiley's and only had to tune one right out of the box. They can be trolled at any speed up to 10 mph. I own over 300 lures and 85% of my fish were caught on Wiley lures. I tried the terminators, but why buy a replica Wiley instead of the real one.

I love Wileys. These baits have caught more fish for me than just about anything. I love them. I wish I had about 50 of them.
Some of mine look like they have been thru hell and back.

I also own a bunch of both. I like both lures a lot. Wileys do run straight and true out of the box, and are slightly cheaper and easier to get. Terminators are known to walk a little bit, but this is a nice trigger for skis. I have had days where the terminators are the hot lure over wileys...Both catch high numbers and big fish. So far this year, the Wiley has been my hottest with a 53" in the bat on one. Another one of my favorite baits that are very similar are the lokes.

I love Wiley baits for trolling. I have more confidence in those baits that all my other crankbaits combined. I've caught muskies on the 8" Straight Musky King, the 6" Jointed Musky King, the 6" Deep Diver and the Headshaker. My brother has also caught a couple on the 5 1/2" Jointed Musky Killer. When I head to the Kawarthas each Summer I always make sure I bring all my Wiley baits. I haven't fished Terminators or Stalkers so I can't comment on them, but Wiley's are very well made baits that catch fish.

Muskyme,

The Musky Trains are great baits. I was having problems trolling other jointed cranks earlier this year and got a chance to see these in action. 10 mins into a trolling pass and a buddy of mine popped a nice 40.5". Great action (super hard thump), well built, good paint jobs, and they run well out of the box. I've heard they've been doing pretty well on them up at LSC this year. Personally, I don't understand why someone would buy a $20+ 6" crank when you could spend considerably less for a bait just as or even better than the competitors'.

Wileys...

-Great colors
-Catch fish
-Due to the fact that they are cedar, they do seem to wear faster
-Easy to tune, but I feel most need to be tuned
-Getting pretty pricey
-I think the build quality is deteriorating. The hook eyes, tow eye, and lip don't seem to be in line with one another.

Terminators
- Tough to get, but not if you plan ahead
- Catch fish
- Thump harder than Wileys
- Great colors
- Very consistent in build construction/quality
- Unbelievable color selection
- Very durable due to wood being harder (silver birch)
- They are a little tougher to tune correctly , but wander really nice when you do
- Pricey, but hold up really well

I have about 15 of each and wouldn't feel right if I didn't have them both in my box. As stated previously, sometimes the wileys are hot and others the terminator, or, lokes, muskietrain, nils, jakes, grandmas, muskelunch, TKO, woodie, Gotha's, Zing's, buchers's, magnet's, nils, believer's, slammers, tuff shad's, hooker's, etc...

They are all just tools...

I have a 10 inch one of these on ebay right now. It IS a great lure, will troll faster than any wiley or terminator. I have lots of all three. They all are great lures and will catch fish. Just put the color du-jour of any of them and pow!
I have a bunch of the Woodies also. They also preform well. They are made in Windsor, Canada on the shore of LSC. Most of the Canadian bait shops in the SW Ontario area have them.
