How'd you do out there this last weekend? Sue and I were over at the Minnesota Muskie Tournament event on Mille Lacs, as a sponsor and covering the event, so no fishing for us until tomorrow night's League.

Found some tough fishing this weekend. Got Esoxlazer out on Friday night, and got the 1st skunk in a while on Pewuakee. We did have one board doing the fish dance, but didn't hook up.

Hit the water with the wife last night, and she got a little guy at 28"s, but it was enough to keep her out til 10, doing the trolling runs for us. (maybe that's why we didn't score another.) LOL

She is now ready for next Sunday.

Not this past weekend, but about a week and half ago I took a quick short notice trip up to AML on Eagle to spend some quality time with Steve, Rob,(and crew) and Jeff. The last day of four total was a good way to finish off a fun trip...popped a chunk of a 45" at about 3:30 then came back about four hours later, on the same spot, same bait (black super vibrax) and boated a fattie of a 49"er!! What a way to end a great, quick, trip...

Now, if I knew how to post some pictures, I'd do it????

We had a good day on the river Sunday, moved 6 fish before we were able to get a healthy 47" fish in the boat for a quick picture.

Had a great Sat. afternoon on the dead sea(Pelican Lake). Boated a 36 and a nice 47+ . Was a blast trying to net the 47 by myself in the fairly stout afternoon wind.

logged 3 or 4 miles in woods and old river beds of the hills of central Kentucky. Hiking with my 8 year old son, we were armed with sticks and a camera. We found a turtle shell, turkey feathers, racoon skull, and saw plently of deer, frogs, insects and birds. it was great. got a good release on the wildlife we photgraphed! ha. My son was mostly snake hunting and unforunately, after pulling up around 100 big rocks, we came up empty. first time in the past 5 trips we came up 'snakeless'. oh well, good lesson for him to learn.

we also released a turtle into the woods, by a pond, that he captured a month ago in Eastern KY, after finding out it's not a species we are allow to have by law.

Didnt soak any hooks, but saw some fish in the creeks and ponds...no figure 8's..but good family weekend in the woods.

One smoked reel, one messed up seat, one messed up locator, good jambalaya at Jollymon's, but otherwise, nada. Moved 2, nothing looking to eat. Summer sucks.

Nearly 4 hours of driving, fishing 5 hours, with the destination being a lake overrun with sailboats, powerboaters, and water skiiers who dont even do any cool tricks to watch. I think I'm hanging up the muskie rods.....til Labor Day, then its ON! Finally learning my lesson: if you live in the Chicago area, your season runs from Ice-out til about June 9th. From June 9th to Labor Day: go fish Canada one week, go to N.MN or N.WI for long weekends....and bass or salmon fish the big pond when you cant go away.

OR, keep working on the wife about moving NORTH!

I second that on the JollyMons Jambalaija.....awsome stuff. I also second that on your other stuff too....The SE Lakes become so badly overrun by pleasure boating you might as well anchor and watch the hotties...unless you're with the wife..then you might as well go shopping for shoes.

Went fishing in West BG Virginia with my son Jon and his 'uncle' Mauser at Summersville Lake. Beautiful clear water lake, very deep. CJ got a real good smallie when we first started, missed a couple others, I got a walleye for him to take home to mom. I had some issues with my POS Dodge and hope to have them resolved before I pull the boat to southern Kentucky later this month. all is well. m

Took my son up Sat AM and was teaching him how to cast. We had a smallie hooked for a bit, but no muskies. Had a good time til about noon when all of the power squadron is thru sleeping off their hangovers. Went to another lake and pounded the walleyes and wipers.

Fished Shabbona on Sunday from 7 am til 4:30 pm. Saw 1 fish eearly in the no motor zone on a 6 in Jake. Threw everything I had in the Lakewood at them. Noone wanted to eat. Even tried a new trolling pattern to no avail! Got so hot all the ice melted in the cooler. We decided to leave and keep the beer cold rather than let it get warm! Managed to snag a Super Shad Rap somebody lost though! Not a bad deal!
