Just looking for thoughts around replacing the single hooks on Eagle Tails with trebles--what do you prefer and why?

Thanks,

I have not had any trouble with the single hooks.

The Eagle Tails I think are made with the single hooks for a reason. You can work them through weeds and other cover without having the troubles of having them hang up or catch weeds as you would with a bucktail with trebles. There are plenty of other bucktails out there with trebles.

The Eagle Tails work as designed and you can fish them almost anywhere. I am having some custom giant bucktails made right now though and I always prefer trebles

I say keep em...once you get a good hook set, they are in for good! Take a pliers and give it a slight bend (like a true turn) and it should up your hooking %.

I agree w/ JL--the advantages of single hooks are enormous in my humble opinion. Trebles are generally weaker, more problematic in heavy cover, and do not hook as well as the singles once the fish is hooked. I see more fish eating singles vs trebles as well--think it is from the tail wiggle type action they give. Looks at the stats from MI--number one 50 inch bait = Eagle Tail!!

Are the hooks split ringed? If so, change it over as you need. I have a lilly tail which I really like but missed a couple of pike and put a treble on and started putting them in the boat.
