| I am trying to decide on a new rod to throw the Weagle, big spinnerbaits and bucktails, prop baits and bulldawgs. I want something that is 7'6" and was thinking of a St Croix avid or premier. Or is there some other rod I should be looking at? Thanks for any suggestions!! |

| I fish the 7'6" premier with funky chickens a lot of the time and it does a great work. I had a hard time throwing ghosttails because the rod won't load up during the cast. i recently purchased the 7'10" med Fig Tooth Tamer and it throws lighter bucktails great and also works well with mag bulldawgs. But as long as u throw 1.5 ounces bucktails or better the premier will do just fine |

Location: Tomahawk, Wi | St.croix Rods are top of the line rods. The avid will be alittle lighter and stiffer than the premier, and comes with a life time warranty. If you want to throw BullDawgs I would definitely get the Avid. |

Location: Elkhart, IN | I really like my 7'6" Premier. I'm sure the Avid is a little better rod, it all boils down to whether you want to spend the extra money or not, but my Premiers are doing a great job for me. |

Location: oswego, il | I know the "weagle" rod is a 7'6" MH blank but I prefer the 6'9" H premere for the weagle task. I think it death marches the bait better. |

| I use both, and you will find that the 7'6" Premier is better suited for heavier artillery. If you want a lighter stick, something that will handle a lot of different lures, the Avid will be more user friendly in a variety of applications and will handle lighter lures better.
I use my Premiers for 8"Shakers and lures of that size. The Avid has more give in the tip, so walk-the-dog type lures are easier to use. You get a better action for snapping the slack out of the line, which is what you want for lighter gliders and top waters.

Location: Cohasset, MN | I can't recommend a particular rod but I agree with using the 7'6". I can't quite explain the mechanics (to myself even) but my retrieve is easier and more consistent (for the weagle) with that than anything shorter - although, of course, it can (and is) being done. |
