Steve,
It's go lambeau!
But then I guess I'm a bit a bias for Therapy to pull out a win.
Good luck to both teams.

Things are heating up here. Literally! Temps are to be record highs this weekend, and the water is warming up as a result. Sue and I moved 9 muskies today after fishing bass until 3 PM, and got one 45 on a Wabull. The Pike and bass were willing, as were the incedental walleyes. Dinner was walleye fillets and Mac and Cheese. Yummy.... All in all, it was a great day!

Another great day on the Goon, with multiple big pike and a total of 4 muskies in camp. The Pepto Castor was HOT on the big Pike this afternoon ( Sue and I got out on the water at noon, no hurry when the sun sets completly at 10:30) and a Violent Strike spinnerbait scored me a very nice Muskie.
We fished with Merv tonight, he had his rig out of the water ready to leave tomorrow. He jumped in the rig with Sue and I and scored several nice pike and rolled a nice muskie all on a Black/Pink Violent Strike Magnum.

What an incredible body of water Wabigoon is, (inspite of a token nay-sayer) with true trophy potential for most all species that we fish for! It would be a short list of accessible lakes that can match it!
Steve W., what was the final tallies of your week?

Way to go Drew!! After an exciting day at work (not) spent 2.5 hours "playing" in the large tank in our fish room, but tomorrow muskie league. . . always a little light at the end of a boring day (or two).

Get out there and catch some more, have "Dad" photo it and you vice versa...then I'll browse them later tomorrow night or Weds a.m. Nikki, I'm waiting to see a pic of you and a beast?!?Have fun! Sz

SVL, Final tally for our week was 17 muskies in camp up to 47", 2 pike over 40", and Sue's personal best 'eye. We had a great time! I got two good muskies ( pictures above) and lost a few more in that class. A 54 was caught Sunday out of another camp by the Microwave tower. We caught LOTS of walleyes and bass, and had several great fish dinners!

Thanks for the report Steve.
They must be using metric time in Canada, eh?, because there only seems to be 15 minutes per hour as it goes by so fast!
I can't wait to get back up on the 'Goon!

Baldy got a 44, tommyv got a 36, I got 2 low 40's and a 42" pike, Slamr got a 35 and 40" pike (Nikki, Slamr, and I got out this evening, moved 7 muskies in one small area including a supertanker, got the 42 and the Pike) and there were several other fish caught I don't have here yet. Hopefully, this is an omen for the rest of the trip, the fish were on during the afternoon and evening. Jack and I got a limit of 'eyes this morning from 16 to 20", had a great time.

I had this same discussion with John Stellflue last night, there are no visors in musky fishing.

Norm,
There were times last night on Pelican I could have used a welder's helmet. Wow.. It was brutal for sure. But I agree with the visor comment. Visors are only appropriate when playing golf, going to flea markets or watching parades.

Great to see you guys are catching some fish. What are the water temps and are you guys seeing them in the usual places with the usual things like last year? Going up next week and am curious.

By the way I see nothing wrong with a visor. It's hard to find a hat that fits. Are you keeping track of everything this year(hats, cigs, etc.) slamr not having Jonesi mark your map are ya. Q

Tommyv got a 36 today. In the unreal windless record heat here it was a NASTY day on the water. 100 degrees onshore, and high 90's on the water. There were some very nice fish moved, but no one scored a piggy. I had a dandy miss a Wabull and had a great time with two outstanding boat partners, despite the heat we caught a few nice Pike and moved two big girls, and Slamr moved the HOG he saw last night; she went around two times on an eight before cruising off.

Indian Point Camp provided us with a welcome respite from the heat at the Wednesday Fish Fry. We all ate very well and drank a fair bit of free beer, pluse we each got an Indian Point MuskieFIRST hat and some pretty cool door prizes. I got a coffee cup because darrel already got the massive Blue can of suds. The folks at Indian Point Camp really know how to make a guest feel welcome!!

Steve and crew, what is the biggest fish scene so far?

I am planning a family trip to Canada next year and I thought I was going to LOTW but I am considering the Gooooooon. The shallow water fishing intrigues me(and the bonus big Pike). Are you guys traveling very far from the camp? Anybody take on any "oozing boat sores"? Would a group of first timers be able to navigate the waters safely?

Sounds like you guys are having a great time. I am so jealous. Good luck and somebody stick one of those piggies.

The biggest for me has been 47 this trip, but we are working some hawgs. The Goon has been stingy in this heat and wind, hopefully this will give us a break this evening and tomorrow; there is a front coming in. The lake isn't hard to navigate, so no big deal there. Most of the fish have been in 5' and Under, with the muskies coming out of about 3'.

Right now:
29°C
A few clouds FEELS LIKE 35°C
WIND SW 26 km/h
GUSTS SW 35km/h
RELATIVE HUMIDITY 48%
DEWPOINT 17°C
PRESSURE 101.25 kPa
VISIBILITY 14 km
CEILING unlimited

Here you go...this was a great day for me, I got two, the larger one with my friend Jack who seems to be a big muskie magnet. Winds were tough and temps in the upper 90's, but the muskies hit the Wabull and TopRaider just fine!

I just want to say, I went on this trip with some trepidation over boredom and being the only woman there among the many men, but I had the greatest time, and the pursuit of a fish--any fish, by the end of the trip--had me out on the water way more than I was planning on originally.

The guys were great, and I think it's just amazing that this board fosters friendship that would allow strangers to share a cabin and get along so well, as if they've known each other for years. The people at Indian Point were so nice, too. It was a really good time, and except for the long drive up there, I look forward to going again next year.

*Oh, and keeping with the Golden tradition, both of us fell overboard at various points of the trip.

Great trip, it was REALLY HOT. Big Thanks again to Indian Point, and Steve Worrall (DAD) for setting us up. Fished hard, despite the heat, boated 2 muskies in the 3 foot range and screamin Kenny got his second muskie, a nice 36 incher (Chantelle pictures?). Also, I would like to thank the Golden family for their food.........and entertainment. TONS of big northern in our boat every day, got a 3 lb. smallie, and a few other fish. Now I'm just upset that I'm at work.

And most of all, a huge thank you to Steve Jonesi for letting us fish out of his rig for over a week, putting us on fish consistently, and letting us crash at his place for a few days. If you ever get the chance to fish with this guy, DOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT!

What's next, mask & fins = "Jewish Low Tech Aquaview"?

A great time was had by all, although 14 hrs in sun and 100+ degree heat isn't really fun unless you're a camel I guess.Great company all around.FINALLY got to meet Sorno.A highlight for sure.Nice people from Utah, but I wonder what they'd think of us!!!???The Golden's kept us entertained all week.(sniff)Still wondering how the body can consume 3 gallons of water and not have to pee.Amazing.Must have something to do with the heat eh?The Goon is an incredible pond and my hat(2 trips muskie-less)is off to her.#$#@#$%$%^^%$.There, now I feel better.I will return there at some point because she and I STILL have some unfinished business. It absolutely freakin kills me that I KNOW where they live and for some unknown reason, I can't get one in the boat. That's why they call it fishing and not catching. And to Da Country Kid and Screamin Kenny, all I can say is thank you.You guys were freakin hardcore every day.Mi casa es su casa.Anytime.Cool, I've got Family in Pennsylvania. Thanks guys See you guys this fall on Steeler Turf. You bring the rock stars and I'll bring the Bachelorette Party!!!LMAO. They'd think you're nuts. But then, when it comes to muskies, that's not necessarily a bad label.

Seriously, well at least semi-seriously, it was great to meet the bunch that went. It was almost like meeting old friends. I learned a ton, had loads of fun and caught some fish. What more could anyone ask for? Besides, I only have one year w/o a muskie there now - so I'm twice as good as Jonesi! hahahahahaha

sorenson,
I just wish there was more time to move around in the boats, would have liked to spend another afternoon in the same rig out there on the Goon. She was uncharacteristically stingy this trip, but 100 degrees and huge winds didn't help much. The fly by was a success, good film clip! Riding in the plane with the door removed was a hoot!!

Yeah, another half-day tutorial would have been nice! For sure next time.
I was curious about the fly-by too - is that video going to be available sometime? Would love to see it.
Also, some more pics of the festivities...

OK, since I'm low-tech, I just got my film back. Here are some of the highlights.

Anyone else have pictures they want to place in the Goon '05 album? Send them to me, and in the album they will be.
