I don't think I've seen a post about this before. I wouldn't expect that I'm the only dumb a$$ that has put back a bait with a plastic tail next to a wooden or plastic bait and had the paint removed from the bait. My question, what is the best way to get rid of the sticky residue left on the bait? Any tips??? I have a new top water bait that got put next to a shallow invader in my box.....

Thanks

Try a LITTLE paint thinner on a rag and try to smooth out the effected area.
Then take clear nail polish and put 3 or 4 coats over the area. It aint gonna be pretty, but that's what happens when plastic meets certain clear coats.
You can also try to smooth out the area with a file or fine sandpaper. Again, it won't be pretty, but you're just trying to save the lure now. If can clean it up, you can also use Devcon 2-part epoxy and mix it up and use a small paint brush to cover the area making sure to overlap on to a good clean surface. Do two thin coats instead of one thick one.
I keep all my plastics in their own Plano storrage boxes just for that reason. It usually has to lay on it for an extended period of time for the reaction to happen, but heat will speed up the process.
Ask me how I found out? At least my experience was just Mr. Twisters and Rapalas while walleye fishing and not $25 lures.
good luck.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I tried to clear off as much as I could and now the black is gone with a white streak down the middle. A NEW skunk bait I guess.
