Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | This weekend, My favorite bait of all time lost it's life, sacfricising itself to a 39" fish up near Hayward.
She was an Original Bulldawg, hand poured, with sevenstrand (we all know how much better those worked). Her final resting place is in my display case, right along side the hothead that caught my first musky, a 45". The "Bait that has no knickname" had caught 1/4 of the muskys in my boat, as well as COUNTLESS Northerns. As you may be able to tell, she has been remelted on several occasions, and has been "zip-tied" in three different places to hold the harness in place. She is survived by the 200+ baits still alive and well in my box.
I thought that this might be a good opportunity to expand on that "Musky Carnage" article that appeared in M.H. magazine. Please, add pics of your retired baits, along with the story!

Location: oswego, il | Lost my favorite depth raider 2 years ago. It had about 30 fish on it. Snagged her up in some really thick millfoil, so thick and so deep in it I could not get anywhere near the lure. I have another just like it but it just does not put the fish in the boat like that one did.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Last fall a mermaid in Pelican claimed my favorite bait that had over 20 fish on it. Actually I had a backlash and for some reason a swivel on the leader failed and there went my Lac Suel Perch Manta that I had since they just started making them. She now rests on the bottom of the west end of Musky Bay on Pelican. |

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | I lost an original bulldawg on the first cast this weekend that i got from K-Bob in a bait trade due to a grooved up tip top caused by a lesser known brand of superbraid. I never should have knick-named that bait before i threw it. |

Location: Racine, Wi | I lost my favorite DR 2 years ago while trolling with Shep. I bought 2 to replace it, and they definitely don't put fish in the boat like the old one.
The Bomber Long A that I have had since I was 16 is the next in line with well over 40 fish on it, and that one had to get an epoxy injection to fill in a hole from a tooth that was letting water in. That bait will be around forever. (hopefully)

Location: oswego, il | I have a bomber long a that is awesome too and they don't make that color anymore. It's a perch pattern and it's the only one I have ever seen.
I slo lost an HR on trude lake in the center north bay. Dig-in backlash and the lure sailed off. It was a bullhead color special painted for one tackle shop and I have not seen any more of them. |

I have the same bait, not customised like yours but the same pattern with the 7 strand. I will trade it.

Location: KY | This one accounted for four fish in one season. That’s a lot when you only get to fish half a dozen days a year. I could have strangled myself when I realized I cut the primary hook. It was a “Dinner Bait” with Owner hooks. I have not been able to find another to replace it. I guess I will have to tie my own.
