Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | John Solberg caught the largest fish ever caught in the Rhinelander Muskie League's history, boating a 52" PIG at about 8 PM tonight.Congratulations, sir, for your personal best Wisconsin Muskie. This guy is HOT! He boated a 40 last week beating my fish, and a 52 this week, beating our team mate Andy's fish.
BIG fish...
(Weagle, Baby!!!...was heard echoing across the bays and islands)

Cady, you need to work fast
Jsled,
You rocked it tonight!! I'm seeing it over and over in my head but it is still hard to believe. Great work getting her to go.
My trip home seemed to go faster than ever and I had no "head bobs" to freak me out either!! I'll be glad to stay on the net and be a part of team "No Name" as long as you keep putting fish in the boat
No more words seem to be coming to me, just congrats and thanks for sharing.

Have fun!

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | That's funny, I was talking with Sir Sled last night and mentioned that maybe he needed a new moniker. He seemed to think that 52ISbigenough would work. That was last night though, he may have set his sights higher by morning. |

Location: Rhinelander, WI | Great fish John, glad a good guy got it. Did I mention that’s my spot! Just kidding, never did head that way last night, good call and good job getting her to go. We had a great time on the water, my son got his first fish on a bucktail, small pike and about 10 minutes later we had the PLEASURE of registering Andy’s fish. Luke thought that was pretty cool and he want to extend a big thanks to Andy for the Kiddy Cocktail at the bar later. Andy does know how to take care of is registration people. I am glad I have had the PLEASURE of doing it a number of times.

Location: minocqua, wi. | just got in to the office to check on the boards. first, i've got to thank Norm Wild for nudging me into the Rhinelander Musky League and especially thank my new friend and partner Mike Morse (BigMO)and finally Steve Cady and Kid Catchem for the confidence in the Weagle!
alot of you understand what has happened in my life during the past year and have become friends during a time when i thought there was nothing or nobody who gave a crap about me. well, i turned to the "strangers" of the Musky Message Boards when life became so dark that i felt dead. some of you Muskihntr, Gare, H30, Cady, Fenner, Heiting, Jackpotjohny, Tuffdaddy, Hunts, 52isntbigenough, KapnJim and the list goes on and on .... sent me messages of encouragement or just wondering how i was during a time of dispair. each and every message came at a time when it was the only good thing i saw in that particular day. well, alot of healing has gone on for me and the past 3 months have been among the best of my life for myself and with my kids. i decided to fish when i didn't have the kids to be able to focus on something positive and especially to share the boat and make new friends ... last night's fish was so special to me and really represented to me that gifts of friendship and success are out there ... sappy, but guys you can't imagine how good i feel right now and how much i appreciate your advice and humor and especially the strangers among you who have become friends!
this fish was amazing. we were fishing the last hour of league and the weather had made a slight change. Mike and i were working the outside edge of a stump field close to the turn of the main river channel. once again i got caught a bit too far inside and got frustrated with weeds. i told Mike it's again time to fish instead of get frustrated, so i put on a supertopraider and casted out the other side of the boat toward the channel. about 10 yards from having the bait in this fish came up. Mike turned to look and we were shocked at the size (you've all been there). well, my knees were shaking and i almost couldn't control my hands. i turned the boat and held the position in the current and wind and Mike casted in to no response. i put on the Weagle Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and threw with confidence. swooooossh .....swoooosh .... all of a sudden about a 24-26" musky breaks the water after the Weagle .... i kept the bait in the game and in my mind said oh, SHHHHH! ..T wrong fish when right behind it comes the 52"er engulfing the bait ... she took it deep before i throttled the hook set. She was a hot fighting fish and gave us all we had including two victories against the net. we got her in and a friend of mine (Tom Knudsen and his son) came to help us verify her. next a guy comes out in his pontoon boat and said he saw it from his house about 300 yards away and just had to come out and see the fish.
this is what it's all about.
oh, there are no big fish in Wisconsin and the Weagle is just another bait!

| Great fish Johnny.
The best part of all of these big fish being caught lately is reading the stories of the catch.
It's great seeing the pics, but it don't mean dic until you hear it all from the proud anglers point of view.

Location: minocqua, wi. | thanks Shane .... oh, and let's not forget that the big sticks in the Rhinelander League are really the best in the business. i'm just having the time of my life being able to meet, fish with and learn from these guys. My partner Mike has done the work on the location and strategy for the nights and that means alot. from there we've just plain been fortunate by being in the right place at the right time! my thinking plays more into rookie league season luck than anything else, so we're enjoying the mojo while it lasts ..... and i sure hope it does. |

| Hey John, Congrats on the fish, and also on not letting one of lifes bad times ruin some of the good things that will always be there...Friends, muskies, and cold beer! Musky friends have helped me through some bad times as well.
All of this excitement right in my back yard and I was stuck in flippin meeting room in Downers Grove IL all week.
To any of you that live in the greater Chicago area....How the hell can you handle that kind of pace. I was a nervous wreck all week.
Congrats again John. God bless.

| Johnny,
I have two congrats for you. One from me, and one from your Tennesee neighbor, Dave K. I golfed with him on Thursday, and somehow he mentioned that he had a neighbor from down there that moved up here, and liked those big toothy fish. When he said your name, and I said that I know you and told him about your great fish, he about Shadied himself, and said to forward his congrats to you! Small world! |
