Location: oswego, il | Hey peeps, need some info, what towns have big tackle shops between madison and vermillion that would have a suction cup for a lowrance transducer? Looking all over for one, seems I can find any part for a lowrance but this stupid suction cup. I think the holy grail would be easier to find. Renting a boat up there this time so I am scrambling to get portable stuff to take up with me. |

There's a place in Madison, just off the beltline called Dorns. Last time I was in there they had a plethera of odd Lowrance parts. I'd at least give them a call. This should be the correct number (608) 274-2511. Ask for the bait shop.
Otherwise, if you're going through or near the cities, there's the Cabela's in Owatonna or you could check with Jonesi and see what Thorne's has got. There's also Reeds in Walker. I've never been to Vermillion so I don't know the route.
Depending on how bad you really want it? It might be better to go a roundabout way and run to Cabela's in Prarie Du Chien too. It's quite a ways from Madison but you may be able to figure another route to Vermillion rather than coming all the way back to Madison.
Mark H might be able to help you out with things around Eau Claire area too.
You probably already know this but there's at least a couple Gander Mountains along the way as well.

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Todd, instead of a suction cup mount, try making a mount with a c-clamp and pole-similar to a clamp on transom light. I used one for years with good success. All you need should be available at your local hardware store. |

| I just drove this route on my way up to Canada a couple of weeks ago. You almost go right past a Gander Mountain on your way through Duluth, I know. There's also a Gander near Eau Claire as well.
Not sure if Gander would carry something like this but it might be worth a try.
I have an older model portable Eagle with the suction cup/transducer set-up. If you think there's any way it would work I'd be more than willing to give it a shot. I live in Lockport. Otherwise, you could just borrow the Eagle if you wanted to. I know it works. |

Location: oswego, il | Thanks for the help everybody. I have my setup, just needed the suction cup for the transducer. Another option is some marine dealers. I have 2 by me I will try tomorrow and i know of some in eau claire too, if not i will make the pole and clamp mod. |

First, I hope you fall and chipa a tooth because I'm not spending a week on of the most beautiful and one of the finest
musky waters in all the land and you are.
Cabelas in Owatonna right off 35W-can't miss it
Gander Mountain in Lakeville right off 35W-can't miss it
Gander Mountain in Forest lake Mn. right off 35W-can't miss it
Marine General in Duluth, off your route but, they got everything-two lbs. in a 1lb box store.
Fish-Lectronics - 5003 University Ave. Columbia Heights, MN. 763-571-1277
Just about 5 maybe 10 miles west, off 35W north of the City.

Location: oswego, il | Thanks guys but I finally found the only one in the whole chicagoland area. My job got me by several marine dealers and tackle shops, make that 12 this week and ed shirley's in countryside had ONE! I found alot of dusty old lowrance parts all over but no cups. Ed Shirley's told me they sell them frequently. Beats me why nobody carries the part. It wears out way beofre a power cable which every place I went to carries, and I thought I was retarded.
Mother, I will try and chip a tooth for you this week. it will be challenging as it is, casting for 2-3 people in the boat with benches. I am either going to have to do some good reaching or do my plate spinning act to keep everything running smooth. |

| Todd,
If you are in this situation again or if you want to make sure your transducer isn't skipping across your wake, mount the transducer on a piece of 1x2 and as someone else stated mount it on the transom with a C-clamp. Use the hole that attaches to the suction cup to mount the transducer on the wood strip. I have used this method on over 20 trips to Canada and never had a problem. At least if you use the cup, make sure your transducer is secured with a string to th eboat. Algae covered transoms don't provide a good surface for the suction cup.
Good luck |

Location: oswego, il | Jim, that cup sucked, not to mention the L&M store in virginia mn had a bunch of them. After two days of trolling that dam suction cup, I went to L&M and bought the clamp mount, which does not work very well when you at speed either but won't come off. |

| Todd,
The home made version is alot more stable. I used to troll and run a 40 hp motor at full speed and get a good reading in Canada. It helps to have a high speed transducer( I think that's all they make now) and to make sure it is mounted at the end of the board and mounted in a place on the transom that won't get any cavitation from rivets. PM me on the musky hunter or lake link board if you want more info. I'm Jim L on MH and jkb on lake link.

Location: oswego, il | Brian, our rental boat had a 15hp on it and would not plane so we fished rice bay alot and my kids got alot of pike. I am sure it was too warm and definitely too shallow for the muskies to still be there. My youngest son did have one follow on a small fish and we did see a giant fish in a bay down from the resort that was sunning itself. It was well over a cast length away and I could see it plain as day. That is how big it was. PM me if you want to know what bay. The channel to rice bay has decent depth and current and looks nice but you may encounter the ^&$*#@ that lives in rice bay in the brown speedboat. He will not be couteous. He told me i was in the channel on my first day there and i seen him buzz by a bass boat at speed, 10ft away, glad it was not me he did that to. |
