I was just wondering if there are any other females who like to fish for musky? I live in Ky. and I don't know of any other women who are into the sport. Most women don't even know what one is; and, if they do, don't want to tangle with something with that many teeth. Later.

My wife was my muskie fishin' partner until our daughter was born. We'd drop Taylor off at Grandmas for long weekends, but then Becky had neck surgery twice in 5 years and doesn't spend much time on the water with me anymore. Besides, I'm retired and she only gets 2 weeks of vacation. But starting Friday, my 9-year old daughter will take her spot in the boat for the summer and we will travel around as much as she can bear. Then comes hockey camps in August, followed by hockey practice in Sept.......I have 2 muskie fishin' women, but both of them wish that they had more time to do it.

Oh, My wife is as addicted to this sickness as much as ANY MAN! So much so in fact, that she brings up going musky fishing more than I do! If I had a picture of her shrunk down enough, I'd post it now.

Well, what I meant was, Slamr didn't shrink his picture when he posted.
I wish I was at Worrall's. I was looking for something to delete last time I was there.

Well I'm glad to know that I'm not the only crazy one out there. I think I've probably got the sickness worse than my husband. Last weekend I drug him out into the remnants of Tropical Storm Arlene in order to get my fix ( not a single bite, I might add) and he wasn't exactly chomping at the bit to go, but since I carry my 22 Mag with me when I fish he went along peacefully enough.

Hello, Muskiemama,
There are more and more gals getting involved with this great sport each year. I am a guide in northern Wisconsin (who just happens to be a girl!) and 4 out of 10 of my customers this year are women. Check out my website:
http://www.ablondandherboat.com
I have a buddy in Kentucky, name is Judy Jenkins, who is an avid musky hunter. I'll email her and possibly she'll join in here. Maybe you two could connect up and fish together.

Best wishes and big fish to you,

Patricia Strutz

LOL, I'm in the Chicago burbs, and the women around here think fish are "icky"

"Eeew, you touch those things?"

"do they bite?"

"Oh my God, what IS THAT?"

Muskie fishing would mess up their manicures and their $100 hairstyles. Besides, you can't wear $200 designer shoes in a boat. It's freakin fashion show around here, I tell 'ya...

$200.00 designer shoes? Half the time I don't wear any shoes period ( but my husband doesn't seem to mind when I fish in my bikini)

I should have expected that. I'll see what I can do ( mostly bass pictures tho, no musky). And by the way, don't get your hopes up too bad. Teri Hatcher, I'm not!

That's kind of an inside joke on the big fish rumor posts. But not to worry, Terri hatcher is too skinny anyway.

My wife really enjoys Musky fishing. She has spent about 20 days on the water with me this year, and she has done a couple float trips with my buddies girlfriend while he and I took fishing trips elsewhere. I am thankful for her company and appreciate the fact that she has evolved into a true partner who brings much opinion/knowledge to the table rather than just tagging along as some do. She is still all smiles over the nice one she released and the two others she moved last night(even more smiles for the fact that I did not catch or move anything). Can't wait for our next outing!!!

Both my wife and my daughter love fishing, mostly panfish and pike over the years, and the past few years have become musky junkies like the rest of us here.

Thanks for the "prop's" guys...you too Shep!

There are plenty of us girls out there stickin' fish! Patricia Strutz ( a.k.a. Row Trolling Mama) is a great example. There are a few of us girls out there "professionally", but there are countless other women out there stickin' fish every day. Join a club and get involved! Don't get let yourself get discouraged, "stick" with it! (sorry, couldn't resist) Even if there aren't alot of other women in the immediate area that share you interest, They are out there. This is a great place to find some of us "chicks" that fish! Look into Muskies Inc. I think they have a chapter in your area. If not, look into a local "independent" club!
Email me any time...

Tight Lines,

p.s. I make it down to Cave Run a few times a year!

No it's not a picture of me in a speedo! I said something of interest...( not something sickening.)

I am the person that Pat was talking about when she sent you the message. I fish as much as possible but, my mother is sick and right now I dont leave her to often because I don't know how much time she has left.
Mark and I fish Cave run quite often. We go every spring and fall for a week and try to take long weekends or just a Saturday or Sunday when I can get away.
I would be more that happy to email back and forth and discuss what tackle you are using and the methods you are using to catch Musky.
You can email me at work Monday - Friday 7:30-5:00pm at [email protected] or at home at [email protected]. I live in Franklin Furnace, OH right now next to my parents so I dont do anything exciting much. Email me and we can stay in touch and see what lakes you fish and just general information.

My wife loves to fish I had a hard time convincing her a couple of years ago to let me buy some muskie gear. Now that we have the gear and she has caught a few herself, she loves it. She also manages to outfish me on a routine basis. Below is the largest we have ever put in the boat.

We haven't tried it yet. I hear that out towards Otway at the Covered Bridge on Scioto Brush Creek. There have been some nice musky caught in that area. We drove out there last winter when we had to get out of the house just to do something. I don't mind fishing in the cold weather or hard rain but Mark don't do the cold. I had him take me to the Cave in March and he just about froze. I put the warmers in my gloves and shoes and started fishing. Its not as bad on me cause I am the on in the warm truck when we launch he's the one in the boat with the wind and snow blowing. I think we are going to try Otway this weekend and see what happens. Usually we only fish the Cave. Do you know of any other places in the Portsmouth area that have good musky fishing. I have also heard that there are musky in the Little Sandy River above the concrete bridge. We went a couple of times but no luck and I was wondering you have tried it.

I've fished with Karen De Petros on Cave run and she's as good a musky fisherperson as they come. Laura Morrison runs Muskies 101 and is fishing the Pro circurt with Tony Grant this year. They both have caught many more fish than I have but most people have .

All I can say is "Welcome "
