What are your favorite night fishing baits? Do you target the same structure as during the day or do you do something different?

Mike the little night fishing I've done hasn't been very successful, but I have more confidence throwing and trolling baits that really put out a lot of thump and noise.
My choices are Jointed 10" believers, Jointed Depthraiders, Marv's Twin spins, and the LLungen tails with a #8 size blade.
I have had a lot more luck the first hour after the sun sets, and the last hour of dark before the sun rises.

I do a lot of night fishing, and I pretty much use either a jointed believer or a marv's hairy bug. I have had some success w/ bucktails and I'm going to do some experimenting w/ big spinnerbaits this year. My theory is to give them something big and slow with some good thump. Other than that I don't think it really matters what you throw.

I think it's more important to recognize when and where night fishing might be productive, basically lots of recreational boating, lots of fishing pressure, hot flat weather, clear water, and believe it or not full or new moon phases. None of these factors is absolutely necessary, but if you have several of those factors present think about getting out at night.

As far as structure - yes, the same general structures, but I stay away from heavy weeds and spend more time around the edges, especially the outside edge. I think fish that hold shallow during the day move out of the thick stuff at night and end up on the outside edge, and you probably also have a number of suspended fish coming into the structure as well.

Finally, keep you boat clean and organized, get a headlamp, have your release tools ready and everything else put away, and look before you leap! Be safe and have fun!

well i do alot of night fishing. our lakes get alot of daytime pressure and it does pay off for us . basicaly fish your usual spots . use loud surface baits(pacemakers, weagles hoosior handmade muskybait's jitter shad.. they are awsome baits. and if u use bucktails and jerks and cranks. i like to use a glow bead that slips on the line . i can get them at a hobbie shop or craft store. and my crestliner has floor lights easy on the eyes so u can see what you are doing and so forth. always keep a spotlight and a couple flashlights in boat. and no matter what never fish alone and probly no more that 2 in the boat. it can get kind of nast. put all lures away when finished with them also i have 2 blacklight/flouresant light that come in handy . when u get a fish i can suction cup them on the edge of boat so u can see the fish in the net and unhook her. and the number one thing always fig 8 and hold on for dear life and have a strong heart......bill
