| There are some new power drinks on the market today that will make you pound that water like you have never pounded before. I have been drinking Sobe and Red Bull on those long hot days, and I am a believer. After one can of the stuff you feel like you could pound for 20 more hours.
Something you might want to try this summer on those tough days on the water.[:sun:] |

| Jason,I am a firm beleiver in plain water on those hot days but I think any cold liquid is good. The best thing about those hot days is you just sweat and don`t have to PEE all day! Jeff |

| Start out the morning w/ coffee, grits + turkey bacon. Fill cooler w/ cokes, water, gator-ade. Velveeta cheese sandwiches + the real secret to strength on the water.... PAYDAY candy bars. Mars bars are ok but as the name implies, Pay Days for fish + pure muscle. Fish won't bite?.... eat a candy bar + try again later! Jerky gives one the ability to chew while thinking + disperses anger as the chewing action relieves tension. [:sun:] |

| Water, water and more water. Unless its after a long day at work then MGD lite!
I have found the the best adrenalin rush to wake you up in the mid day still comes from a boat side strike. |

| Water is the best thing by far, the so called "Power Drinks" are not good for you on a hot day. Most of the drinks contain large doses of caffeine which will make you dehydrated much quicker. Some of the drinks contain Ephedra which is downright dangerous anytime because of it's positive chronotropic effects on the heart. Alchohol's diuretic effects will make you dehydrated very fast as well, but it sure tastes damn good on a hot day. To your health.
Stick a slob! [:sun:] |

| This is the first year that I have made sure I take a cooler with ice and a couple bottles of water. Has made a big difference. Talked to a friend who is big into the health stuff, unlike me. He said that one of the first things that happens with dehydration is a headache. I used to have those all the time. Very much reduced this summer. At least I think it's from the increase in the amount of water I drink.
Good Luck and Be Safe,

| I always take lots of water and Gatorade. The Gatorade I keep in a storrage compartment instead of a cooler. I was told by a football coach that you drink it at room temperature to get it into your system faster. Cold drinks don`t really cool you down because we`re not cold blooded. What you are looking for is rehydration. Beside, if I`m not mistaken, those new power drinks are loaded with caffine. That`s where the energy rush comes from. Stick with water, if it`s good enough for the fishes, it`s good enough for me. Beav |

| RED BULL = Liquid Cocaine in a can!!!! Though it probably is burning a huge hole in my stomach, liver, @ss.... I have been "using" it this year (something that potent isn't drank, its used!) for those long 22 hour days that include 6 hours of driving and 16 hours of fishing. Though I don't recommend the taste (like those weird "pop rocks" candies) if you are looking for something to keep you awake and casting this is the thing. But do drink a lot of water with the stuff, it will de-hydrate you pretty good (or is that the 3 cups of coffee, 3 sodas, and pack of cigarettes I ingest on those days....Muskie fishing takes 1 year off my life every other weekend) so bring a lot of water on the boat if you are going to be using this stuff.

| what is weird is that this is the first summer I can remember that hasn't been hot in PA. well, it's more like may weather than july.

| I agree with Slamr as I'm the big dummy that turned him on to this stuff. Red Bull works well when trying to pull an all nighter on the water. However, we also refer to it as EVIL! It can dehydrate you fast. If you drink several over a few hours, it will give you the shakes. If you drink it with vodka, you can drink dozens of them and feel invincable.....till you hit the mine shaft. |

| No such thing as too much caffine. |

|
| I agree it is EVIL!!! It's wicked nasty stuff. If you like or need caffeine you will love it. Me, I'm sticking to water for now on.
Good luck,
Brian
