While 2Rodknocker and I were trolling the line on his rod broke. My rod was behind his and the lure fouled in my line. At the time we didn't know it and after waiting to see if it would float up, with no sight of it ,we gave it a short funeral at sea and continued trolling. When Rodney reeled in my line we found the lure. I say that he gave it up as lost and since it was on my line it became my property. Who's lure is it? Later

well u should be a good sport and give it back to him. thats what musky friends do. we do not
mess each other like that. and if you were in his boat then be a nice boat partner and give it back to him.....just my 2 cents...bill

I agree, it's his bait. The least he can do, is buy you a fews drinks at the bar after your fishing trip but I would return it without blinking an eye.

I'll do it the way my Dad always did, And take it from both of you now it's mine and there's no more arguing

I think the bigger question is why did the line break in the first place ?

But Like Archerynut say's give it back you know who it belongs to

Ha Ha!!!
Thanks guys for backing me up.
I tried saving Redman lots of lost lures and broken hearts by suggesting the Frabil extending lure retreiver years ago, but he didn't get one till this year. How many you lost since you got it?
Redman, You can have any bait of mine that you want if it helps.
I was trolling with wire and didn't notice that it had kinked over...luckily this wasn't on a huge fish!

How's about a deul? Both of you stand in the middle of the boat and take twenty paces, turn , and shoot. If you both do it right, both of you will be wet and in the lake.

Sorry, its the best idea I have.

Chances are like most muskie people you have a bazillion lures, I say give it back so he can stay at a bazillion and not a bazllion-1. Course what kind of lure was it? If its a Pig or a Swimm Wizz or something like that why would you want to keep it! LOL

What do you mean, give it back? As soon as I reached for it to help get it free he hit me on the arm with a Frabil extending lure reteiver!

No, it was a nasty looking old Ernie. No eyeballs, rusty hooks, and most of the paint gone. The only reason he was running it was becouse it was the only one out of six that would run straight. He won't even let me touch that Wiley!

HHHMMM....Keep it and only use it when rod is in the boat, even if you are out in his Ranger. That way when you catch miss piggy this fall trolling that old Ernie you can realy get a kick out of it. You did say the lure was at the end of YOUR line and not his right......well, sorry Rodney... Looks like Mr. B has a new lure. You could also do something fun this summer. Give it new hooks and some rings. Then repaint it with your special Kinkaid pattern along with some 3-d eyes and give it back to him some random day when he needs a pick me up. Karma says give it back soon, but I would mess with him a little longer. This summer is going to be very long.

Redman--shoot me an email if you want to chase those walleyes around the weeds this summer.

My2cents,
Scott

I'll do that Scott, and as I said; I never got that lure. Rod will get all my stuff when I fart in the rug anyway. I'm going to be burned to a pile of ashes and have some put in a 10 inch Believer so Rodney can keep me fishing. At 56 I do have a few years left, but he was asking about my will yesterday. I don't think I should stand close to the edge of the boat when we are fishing together. If he doesn't stop bringing up the time I had to net his monster 34 incher twice I am leaving him a Jitterbug and a Big-O.

Lets archive this discussion for when Redman kicks off and I'm pushing the Undertaker out of the way to get at his stuff!
Dont want any hard feelings,
I'm going to let the Redman off the hook here and tell the truth: I fell on the floor of the boat and was kicking and screaming when I lost the bait. When we found it, and he said it was his, I had to go one better than the origional meltdown, so I put a good on one and he felt sorry for me, or he was freaked out by my infantile display and gave the lure back to me.
It's just a stinkin Ernine, I'm sure Musky Mania would sell me another.
I think it was the realization that our season is OVER down here. You guys up north know how I'm feeling. You have had to listen to all the stuff about Kinkaid, Shelbyville, the Cave, Green River, Webster, etc. for months now. I'm just a little down that I'm going to have to drive more than 63 miles to muskie fish.
My offer still stands Redman, any bait in the box any time!

I think there is some appropriate precedent in admiralty or maritime law that would say the lure was salvage and therefore belongs to the boat that found it to be divided in shares among the crew.

Rea Man, if you do what Gman says, make sure you get the front half, then you can make a "Squirrelly Ernie.

I lost the original tampax jake on a tree in tompson neck, jim stella and rob where fishing later that day and snagged it off of tree will fishing. Knowing that only one tampax existed at that time and it was mine, they brought it back to me at 17th street without a question asked...there is no question you return the bait....take care, Ben

Personal feeling: the more hands a bait resides in, the more mojo it creates. Would I return it? To a guy I dont, or havent fished with much, yes I would. To Da Country Kid or the FFG; not a chance. AND, I would flaunt it either by throwing it constantly, or never at all. AND AND if it were Cady's bait, I would trade it.

Tommie, I figure you'll be fishing the middle of the new Fiberglass Floating Dock, therefore you'll leave the Mojo-Fied Believer somewhere there. I will have that bait back.

Being that you almost had a coronary from seeing her last year, if you do hook into her, yes, we'll be prying all your gear from your cold dead hands.

Is there more Mojo in a bait 'lifted' from friends, or baits 'gifted' from friends?

Mojo-Fication:

a. lifting a coveted bait that has NOT caught fish for the owner
d. trading any bait

DE-Mojo-Fication
a. stealing a bait that has caught a number of fish
b. trying to "win" all trades.

You steal a bait that a guy has caught alot of fish on breeds negativity.

Here's the bait in question.
It's caught fish from Kinkaid to Canada.

Rod, I want to bury the hatchet. I'm sorry for casting greedy eyes on that lure, but who wouldn't want a lure that has caught fish from Kinkaid to Canada? Just look at all the teeth marks on that thing! What did you catch, Carp? I'm sorry about that last comment, I'm just not a very nice person. I will make it up to you by not fixing that Wallygobber. I will put a new paintjob on my orange tiger one and give it to you. I love you man, and that isn't like the five years I spent in prison love I'm talking about.

Awesome bait, still should be owned by the original owner, but loaned out to the finder for Canadian fishing trips
