When the Wisconsin Muskie Tour scheduled a one-day qualifying tournament on North & South Twin Lakes in Phelps on Monday, May 30th, many anglers were skeptical about the timing of such an early muskie tournament on a deep, clear lake. Many anglers who wanted to fish a WMT tournament on the "Twins" chose not to because they felt that there wouldn't be many fish caught and the size of the muskies that would be active at that time of year and actually be registered, would be the smaller 34 - 36 inch males. What would transpire for the event would be the breaking of many records for a WMT one-day event. North and South Twin Lakes would rewrite the record book with twenty-six muskies registered, shattering the previous mark set in 2004 at Boom Lake with eighteen muskies registered. Also, eleven muskies were registered over 40 inches, beating the old record of eight muskies over forty inches at the 2003 Pewaukee Lake tournament. The final impressive records that was established was the highest score by a team in a one-day tournament with a 47 3/4 inch muskie combined with a 42 incher, for a total of 89.75 points, with the previous record being 86.50 points.

The North/South Twin Lakes tournament paid down five places:

1st Place: John Cestkowski, Watersmeet, MI & Greg Buckmaster, Phelps
2nd Place: Bill Guse & David Copple, both of Phelps
3rd Place: Gordon Hastreiter and Mark Lijewski, both of Woodruff
4th Place: Adam Hickson, Conover and Tom Hickson, Phelps
5th Place: Jeremy Paulsen & Jeremy Lupa, both of Schaumburg, IL
