I have quite a few new lures, and it seems I throw them and nothing happens...put on a bobbie bait that has been through many wars and he produces again... I think I may just spend the money next year on getting them all repainted rather than get new baits:)

I guess there is something very fun with trying new lures, I mean you can't tell me you don't want to own creepenstein!

I have the same problem with more lures than I spend hours out fishing each year. I remember when I first started and I picked up a suick; I thought "Man, what a stupid looking bait," when I worked in the water. There's no shaking, rattling, flashing, dancing, the thing does nothing but go up and down. It wasn't until years later I decide to pitch it down at the local river and about a 36" pike just nailed it. I ended up walking the river just hammering the pike all day on it. Now I'm not afraid to use it of course. But I think that we focus so much on the lure and how its working and each cast that it seems like for ever since we first started throwing it. Now throw on your confidence bait (your bobbie in this case) and everything comes natural without thought. I bet you even have a specific pattern to how you jerk the bait. Because we are not thinking so much about the bait that we just pass the time faster. That's one theory. The other is we might tend to go back to similar places to where we caught fish with a particular baits and so when fishing with that bait you purposefully pinpoint and cast to those locations which most likely are ideal for the bait. Where the other style bait might have a better time and place to be thrown. Anyways that's just a few thoughts. If you have enough time on the water try different baits and different locations and see what happens.

Good Luck fishing!

You really have to put the time in to try those new lures for them to become war wounded. You always throw your confidence when the time is right, but then use bluebird days to try new baits, does that make sense? I myslef have a problem of baitwashing just cause I want to get those new baits in the water to see what I can make them do, sometimes you find a new favorite, others, just another for the garage wall.
