| So I'm thinking about buying a custom rod. What do you all think would be good:
Guides
Handles
BLANKS!!!
Reel Seats
Fun little extras
Place to order them |

Location: God's Country......USA..... Western Wisconsin | Are you going to buy one allready built or are you going to build it yourself?
I guess I would contact Thorne Brothers and talk to Bill for all of your needs in either case. Not always the least expensive but certainly the most knowledgable and they speak Muskie over there. Talk it over with Bill, Pat, Brett or Steve and those guys will tell it to you straight. Diamondbacks rock, I love mine.

Location: Anchorage | I build custom St. Croix blanks on the side and they're the best IMHO when the warranty and price of the blank is factored in. They're what the majority of the builders use here in the midwest. If you're having one built, definitly go with a complete SIC guide set. It'll probably be an extra 20$, but then you can run any line and not worry about ever cutting the rings. Also a lot more sensitive. Seats and handles are all personal preference. If you ever think of building yourself, contact Wild River Dist. in Marine, MN. They sell everything at wholesale $. Otherwise, shoot me an email at [email protected] or 715-220-3050, and I could give ya a qoute or another 2 cents of opinion.
If done right, a custom rod will be the best tackle purchase you'll ever make. |

| Stick with St. Croix blanks, they are the best buy and are high quality.
Think about color of the wraps you want.
Consider having you name added to the blank in a woven wrap, adds a bit of class.
Consider adding colored decorative rings imbedded in the handle.
Definitely SIC guides and make sure there are enough of them and tuned to the blank.
Fuji reel seats.
Good luck!
