| Would like to hear some recommendations for trolling rods. What length are you using and what action are they. I will be trolling anywhere from 6 inch ernies to 10 inch jakes. I am not looking to spend a lot of money so no Diamondback or St. Croix I am looking for the best bang for the buck because I need to buy about 4 rods. |

| Gander Planer board rods are nice. I use these for my down rods. I also use Gander Dipsy rods, 8 feet for my side rods, and 10 1/2 feet, for my planer boards.
Bas Pro Walleye Guide Planer board rods work too. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | The new Bass Pro Shops CatMax rods are great. They come in lengths up to 12ft. They were on sale $49-$59 a couple weeks ago. If you are planning troll when there are a lot of floating weeds it is helpful to have a 9+ft rod to keep the rod in the water and let it collect your weeds. If you can run 6 rods it may be helpful to have rods of various lengths to get a good spread when you have to keep the tips in. |

| I'll 2nd the Shimano TDR at about $25. I use the 8'0 2 piece "Heavy" models (15-30 lb). And it has plenty of guides, like a trolling rod should. |

| I just go to wal-mart and buy a 7' Berkley Big Game. They come in casting and spinning version. Cost $19.95, but no S&H and you can get them right there. They also work well with big baits, have a soft tip. I throw Bull Dawgs with them as well as trolling.

Location: New Baden IL | I have been using Shakespear Ugly sticks for trolling and love them, matched with a Penn 310, sweet drag and great rods too.
For my board rods, I use the Bass Pro Cat Max 2 piece 9' rods and love them too.
