After reading the MI report and comparing its results to my records I am curious as to the correctness of the report. Is the Eagletail still the number 1 big fish bait??? My big fish which are few have come off of bulldawgs and Jackpots. 5 fish 48 or bigger on these two baits. Nothing on the eagletail although I know that it works. What is your take on the accuracy of the findings???

If the same number of people that use the Eagle Tail, started using a Daredevil,
then a Daredevil would be the #1 big fish lure! I think it's is a simple matter of odds.
So many people are throwing the Eagle Tails (with good reason) that they just happen
to catch a lot of big fish.

My #1 BIG FISH lure would be a Marv's Spinnerbait, just because it works and gets
a TON of water time. When I am on a BIG fish, the Marv's get the call, then the 8"
Shaker and/or the Jackpot. It is just a confidence thing for me and the lures that
work get the most time in the water.

So many people throw Bucktails, and many of them like the Eagle Tails, so that is
why/how they catch a lot of Big Fish.

Couldn't have said it better myself....

The one of the reasons the bucktail will always catch fish is because they are easy to use, everybody and their brother has a bucket full of them, and they keep fish pinned almost better than any other lure out there.

Certain baits would and could catch more fish if more people threw them more often.

I remember attending a seminar where the speaker had particapated in a sound test on lures once in a pool and found that the eagle tail was the biggest vibbrating one,,,suick came in second with the hooks banging off it

I agree that confidence and water time will dictate which of your baits gets the biggest fish. A lot of bucktails thrown will steer the numbers in that direction.. Although I still believe a bucktail catching the biggest fish has more credibility than just that. A bucktail is an exceptional hooking lure, and one without a lot of weight which makes hit harder for a muskie to shake the lure once hooked. I have had a ton of big fish hit and miss jackpots, or wood jerk baits, etc...
