Location: Holly, MI | Hit a small lake today from 8:30 am till about noon. We saw no less than 2 dozen muskies. Hanging out in about 3-5 feet of water. Super clear water. Casting from a distance with just about everything in the box drew not a single look. Tried gliding up closer to drop a sucker right in front of their noses didn't even draw the slightest response. Had rain two days ago and yesterday and today were beautiful. A few clouds and slight occasional chop. Tried fishing deeper off the drops out of sight. Yried trolling deep all the way to shallow. Propwash, way out and way back. Can they all be in that negative of a mood at one time? Lockjaw like I have never seen it. No big fish sighted by the way. Most were in the 30 to 35 inch range with a few smaller and a few a little bigger. Even got out a jig and plastic to try to entice them. Then finally even downsized to small minnow baits, I mean small. A lot of the fish had scars on their backs or dorsal fins that showed as white. I have never seen so many muskies at one time. Saw one small pike and lots of nice bass as well. Tons of bait in the form of quite small gills. Saw a few dead suckers on bottom, assumed they were someones old bait.
It sure was cool to see all those fish but frustrating as well. Anyone ever have this happen? |

Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | I too had a very similar situation. Though mine was night fishing. Was casting a large flat (About the size of a football field)adjacent to a midlake island, 5'-6' water, excellent weeds ( not too heavy) in mid July northern Wi. ON A MOON PHASE EVEN!!!!! With the aide of a spot light while checking out weed growth on the flat I saw 30+/- muskies including 3 distinct different pairs within 20-30 minutes. Some of the singles may have been repeats but you get the idea. And of course the dreaded LOCKJAW. I did manage one muskie prior to arriving at that spot on different structure and several 5+lb suicidal largemouth bass. So I thought the conditions for active fish were good. NOT!!! I was in awe having seen so many fish so close to eachother and beside myself as to why no action. I havent seen any thing like it since, going on 5 years now. |

| Try a Kilr Eel or Jig a Beast when you have fish sighted like that, most have their minds on mating not eating, but some of them will be in the mood to eat or have a cigarette depending on where they are at in the spawning process |
