Location: New Baden IL | I wanted to share a picture of a fish that my clients caught on Wednesday. Alex, Ken and I went out to Kinkaid and I had to put something in my boat that I have never had in before: a wheelchair.
Ken fell from a treestand almost 6 years ago, and has been in the chair since, but it hasn't dampened his desire to catch muskies one bit!
I thought I felt rough at the end of a long hard day in the boat, but I dont think I could hang with Ken all the time, He was unstopable!
Anyway...to the fishy part of the story. We finally hookup with a fish trolling, and Ken told his buddy, you take this one and I'll get the next. How's that for a friend??
Well after a pretty great fight with 3 jumps and a few power dives, I netted a 43" for Alex.
It is his new personal best fish.
We released it after a few war cries and screams from the most excited big man I've ever seen!
After we got all settled down and over the shakes, I put out the spread and the clicker screams off again, and I handed the rod to Ken to start doing battle with another fish.
He got it to the boat, and since we had his chair strapped in, he couldnt get turned around. The fish swam from the front of the boat to the back. Imagine sitting in a chair and having a muskie pull the rod completly around your body till your hands were over your head and getting pulled down behind you. Now you can imagine how Ken was trying to fight the fish.
Well needless to say the end result wasn't what we had in mind, but Ken took is in stride.
When you think you have it bad, it doesent take much looking to see people around us that deal with worse stuff every day! It made me stop and think, that's for sure!
Anyway here's the picture.
Anyway, here's on of my favorite pictures to date!

| Great picture and great story. You're right...many times I find myself taking so much for granted...as I'm sure we all do from time to time without realizing it or think about it. This story helps bring things back into perspective. Thanks for sharing. | |

| Hi,
I don't know which one of you looks happier the guide or the fisherman. That is cool.
Thanks Rod

| Awesome picture. Thanks for sharing it.
All of the sudden my back doesn't hurt half as bad as it did just a few minutes ago. Hell, I could get up and walk to the keyboard.
Hats off to Ken for not letting his condition keep him from what he loves to do.
There's also a message here.....Guys, for yourself and for all of your loved ones....wear a saftey harness when you hunt. My daughter makes sure that I pack mine and makes me promise that I'll wear it.
