Location: algonquin Illinois | Going to spend a week on leech the last week of July. Booked 1 day with guide Jim Murphy. Any advice on lure and color selection? Or any advice about the lake would help. Its my first time on the lake. Thanks Dave.  |

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | You already did the best thing you could have done and you hired a great guide. Murph will be on top of the musky scene and will know what's working at the time you're there. Leech is a great fishery, but can also be very unpredictable. What's working today might not turn a fish tomorrow. A day of not seeing a single fish could be followed up by a day where you boat 3. If you hit it right, there's no better lake than Leech. But it can also be very tough. Great first step in hiring Murph. Ask lots of questions and you'll learn a lot, not only about Leech, but about musky fishing in general.

| Thank you all for the kind words. I will have all the baits we will ever need for your trip. I have had good luck with Shumway Flashers(rust/copper blades), Llundgen Tails, Lilly Tails, and Musky Candy. Topwater baits are also very good baits at this time of year. I use Musky Buster baits, Pacemakers, LeLures, and Jackpots. I did get my hands on a Weagle but have not used it yet, two more weeks.
E-mail me a few days before your trip and I will give you the latest hot baits. Or go to www.jimmurphyguide.com I have a message board and answer questions and give advice on this forum.

| The past two years I have been up to leech in the last week of july and have had a very successful time landing a total of 10 fish, the biggest being a 52.5. I would recommend white or very light colors, topwater at night forsurely, and don't be afraid to try some large spoons either. |
