I cannot get the gas to go into my 2003 Magnum. It took me 15 minutes the other day to put in four gallons. I took the four screws out of the filler thing. Though I could just remove it and look, but it will not come out. I tried to look at it from the bottom side and cannot figure out how to access the area the hoses go into. Has anyone had this problem? Help!

Has this ever happened before? If the answer is yes, then it's either a vent hose (good chance that's it) that is kinked or a kinked fill hose, which isn't likely. The fill will be easily accessable from the rear access door. If you can't figure it out, call me tomorrow at 715.362.1760 and we'll troubleshoot it.

Steve,

I just went out in the garage and looked again. There is a round black plastic circle that screws out. The only thing you can see is a large black plastic hose that is for the baitwell. Where the filler hose and vent hose go into the side wall there is not any access that I can see. There is not any screws for removing a panel. Neither hose has a kink that is visable in the beilge or tank area. This happened all last year and it is still the same way this year. It's a good thing my motor is so good on gas that I can get away with four gallons to fish a day. If you have any idea's I would really appreciate it.

I have an older Esox Magnum with the same problem. I have had gas back up in the filler hose more times than I want to think about but have found the best was to fill the tank is take the gas nozzle half way out of the tank and run the gas flow at half speed. Take the nozzle half way out so only about 3 inches of the nozzle is in the fill hose and keep the gas flowing at a steady fill. Even when my tank was almost empty, if I stuck the whole nozzle in the fill hose it would take about 30 seconds for the gas to back up into the overflow area.
I also thought that the vent hose may be kinked but everything on my boat also checked out.

Hope this helps

Tuffy2,
Call Tuffy at 800.359.4416 and ask for Ed. If anyone can solve this issue, it's Ed! He may ask you to bring the boat in to get a look at the problem.

I have had the same problem with my Champion 194. I'm sure it is a kink in your vent hose - to temporarily solve the problem take an airhose and blow down the vent tube from where you fill the tank. You will hear a gurgling noise, stand back and the main line will spit some gas and open - then you can filler to the top with no problems. I have at times just used a straw at a gas station and blow like crazy to open the vent. Best thing is to follow the vent hose and find the kink. Best of luck.
